Irwan Firdaus Uno currently works for his own company, CV. Uno International, which deals in a wide range of products from waste paper, mining products and general goods to seafood and agricultural commodities.

His interest in international trading started in 2005 after meeting with a friend in Tokyo who was importing goods from Indonesia. He was intrigued by the import/export business, and decided to start one of his own.

Starting a company from scratch with limited financial backing was very hard, but taught Uno about international trading the hard way. Acting as consultant, he has also helped many institutions in Indonesia in establishing exchange relationship especially with Japan, the country he lived in for 2 years. Four years later, he is now an expert at international trade with a focus on using minimal resources to get maximum results.

Hi, thank you for your question.

Your question is very short but the answer is not short. As a matter of fact, this is not the first time i am being asked this same question and as far as i can remember, I have written many articles on this.

Doing international trading business with very little financial backups is very challenging. Some people can make it, some quit in the middle of the way.

Anyway, as wise experienced business people always say, money is not everything in business, but without money, it is also impossible to do it. The key is, do not feel paralized just because you are not back up with sufficient financial supports.

Here are several points that you have to invest in from as early stage as poosible in building your business.

1. Capability. This is as a matter of fact is the essence of any business doing. What you can do is determined by what you know and what you are skillful in doing. If you know what you are doing and you can do it skilfully, you may then be categorized as capable person. It is only logical to say that it is impossible for you to be successful in somehting if you are not capable in doing it.

2. Credibility. This is the second most important but i have a feeling that it is as important as the first one. Esspecially when someone is starting business with little financial capital, credibility is just what needed. When you are credible, people are happy to do business with you. Credibility matures with time. It is not a one night engineered title. When people start talking about the good things in you, that means that you are earning credibility. Remember, credibility is intangible, but it could be much much more valuable than the tangible assests. So keep your credibility good and maintain it at whatever cost it takes.

We just endured a loss of $2200 from a company called Huaming Int'l Trading Ltd. on here and somehow they were given a gold star and verified as a member.  They apparently have scammed others so I would love to know how Alibaba operated as it seems they just do not care and could care less about the criminals they allow to breed on here.  Its almost as they give the best criminals a merit of honor or something!  We have been scammed before but not like this.  The people actually put trust into Alibaba to look out after them and make sure this does not happen but time and time again Alibaba lets us down and does nothing to put an end to these crooks.  I am on a mission now and will pay $5000 to anyone who can locate the owners or operators of this Huaming International Trading company (Libi or Polly) as they called themselves.  I am calling out to anyone who knows them personally and your information will be held in secret and once you verify with us you do know where they are, we will fly there within a 3 day period to meet you, gather information and pay cash.  I believe once we find them, we will recoupe our money we have lost and paid to locate them.  This is not a joke or someone just talking out of anger for being scammed.  We are real and will do our part to help stop these criminals.  If you have any information, please direct it to saltwaterplanet@gmail.com.

Hadn't you insured for your orders?If you often encounter such things,then you must have learned the lessons from them.You should pay much attention to such thing before placing an order to your customers.

I had 2 orders go bad last year   (2 companies sent different goods than the samples ) and they were not salable at the same price point 

   How do you insure small orders  ( any orders for that mater ) and is the insurance for delivery or quality ?
