You are from Canada?

There is a Harmonized Tariff System for the USA and for Canada as well, it is mandatory for all exporters to apply for the export permit for purpose of VAT.

Then you have to get the code for the product classification.

Go to website for fuller description about the system for Canada.

http:/www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca

However there are different sets of rules and Codes for different countries. For example in India there is a IEC (Import Export Code) which is related to the HSN (Harmonised System of Nomenclature).

You need to apply for the permit to export to these countries and apply the code for the product you are exporting.
