Hi All

I am new to Alibaba.

I have a small business selling a textile product. I got scammed by the company who I usually by my product from....sold me product that is copywrited and I am not allowed to sell.

So having learned my lesson, I am going to desing my own. I believe i have found a manufacture I wish to deal with, and I am learning all the terms and phrases I need to know.

The one area I would like some advice on. especially from maybe a Canadian, because that is where I am located.

I would like advice on importing and customs,

ANd can anyone recomend an import company.

The items would be coming from China to Canada

Thank You

Hello .

For import series, you'd better consulting your local customs. they will know better than us.  .

Dear PaulaCieslinski

Lets understand something here there cannot be anything called copyright (not Copywrite)  There could be a patent . so do you mean spurious goods sold under a known hotselling brand name.....

So having learned my lesson, I am going to desing my own. I believe i have found a manufacture I wish to deal with, and I am learning all the terms and phrases I need to know.

Wishing you godspeed and the best in your endeavours. To learn business terminology there are websites that are available that you could get from google on all the topics you need to cover.

The one area I would like some advice on. especially from maybe a Canadian, because that is where I am located. I would like advice on importing and customs,

ANd can anyone recomend an import company. The items would be coming from China to Canada.

Paula for a moment i thought you were a Nigerian guaging from the language . You have the Canadian Chambers of commerce and the Sino-Canadian chambers of Commerce

You  could surf the websites and get the information you seek.

For an importer i prefer you use an importer that is located at your end. and do spend threee months learning the fine prints  of business.

Free sites are not the place to invest hard earned money unless you are a professional who can distinguish between the real and the unreal. You have to work real hard in learning your supplier  for the chances of being conned are higher and there are websites that lock members information BUT  these are paid business sites.

Not for a moment am i saying that you cannot make good deals here but then you will have to learn and learn fast, know the difference between genuine and pretenders.

Before you put even a dollar away please spend time learning

Gather a lot of data of your line of work and then the world is your oyster.

Best regards

Sabby/Susan

fHello  you do not need to hire an importer it is a simple process to go to canada"s site on import regulations and find out what is the maximum value you can import with out paying duties on it.All of the customs and all that is done by shipping all you do is receive it.Here in usa it is 2100.00 duty free before one has to pay a duty and the duty is very small anyways so dont worry about it. just go find canada's regulations. simple thing . Now about giving the chinese a plan to make your idea, be very careful, they seem to speak english very well, and they do , but in soem areas such as different types of things example... beating it into them I wanted unlined neoprene wetsuits. she kept wanting to put lining on them and i had to make sure they didnt. so I  made them put out the effort and send me a sample in a little envelope they wanted 150 dollars for sample and shipping to here. well I know the shipping rates and I know prices of wetsuits so i am not talking to them anymore. and it is mutual since I am a no account small time diddler of imports.giving them technical plans would be dicey with out a working model to give them. can you afford to go to china and look at factory. its a blast. one big family if you get the good people soem are maniacs for money just like here.THey also know copyrights and they cannot be touched as long as they are in china and can sell as much copywrited material inside china or to foreigners who take that risk. how did they know it was copyrighted? what exactly was the items they confiscated or forbid you to sell?I would only deal with estabklished company who been there and is not giving you wierd vibrations better go there it is only 1000.00 round trip.

Hi tyke911

I'am newbie also, and I ever import from china but I'm not from canada as you're

- For the custom things: You must asking someone who ever import before, much is better.

In my country Indonesia, the custom is very hard to deal with, so you must know the regulation very well, the fee by ship or by plane. Different country got different rulez I think..

I got stuck in custom and delivery for the first time.

- For the import company in china: Alibaba is a huge source of great company, but I prefer If they have a trust pass and gold supplier one, because they're already experinced in trading and alibaba proof so.. Just search on alibaba..

-For the forwarder: If you have know forwarder before, you can hire them.. Most of them can handle the custom also, so you just dealing with them and create a good trustee business. If not yet, you must find a good forwarder prefer they're in your hometown, so you can communicate clearly and obvious.

Pardon for my  bad english, hope this could help a little..
