Watch out this SCAMMER!  " VERYGOOD INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT Co., Ltd "

I had order USB Flash Drives & MP3 Players from this company.

Total almost USD 600 paid by Moneygram because they did not accept Paypal.

After that, they sent me the wrong models of  USB Flashdrives, poor quality and defect items.

Moreover, wrong capacity and not my ordered color of MP3 Players.

When I told Jessica (sales person) about the defect & wrong items, she told me that she will send me new ones

next time when I have make a new order. Pretty bad, huh?

I have spent some time looking at this and other sites for a trustworthy supplier.  I have read the comments about Alibaba's issuing of "Gold Member" and Trustpass certificates and comments from supporter(s?) of Alibaba criticising Free members for wanting something for nothing.  What is Alibaba's aim - is it to provide a vehicle for suppliers to find buyers, for buyers to find suppliers, or both?

If it is for the first option you would expect the suppliers to pay for the privilege of advertising their wares, but why should the buyer pay?  So if you are a Free member because you are a buyer, what is wrong with that and why should it affect your right to complain, particularly when Alibaba claims to have a system of identifying trustworthy suppliers?  Alibaba are doing a disservice to genuine suppliers by offering "Gold Member" and Trustpass cerificates to all and sundry without any apparent checks or controls, resulting in the state of affairs we have now, where the majority of posts in the Forums are about scammers and not about good suppliers, or praise for Alibaba from suppliers and buyers who have found each other through the site.  Genuine suppliers must feel cheated that they have invested in the site and can't get business because they are lost in a sea of scammers.

Alibaba have even been accused of being in league with the scammers.  There is certainly no doubt that Alibaba profits from their existence even if they aren't in league with them.  In fact Alibaba also profits from the numerous complaints about scammers, since they are given a reason to remove them from the site - in which case the scammer has to go to the expense of re-applying under a different name (more money in Alibaba's coffers).  Alibaba should take on more staff so that they can keep up to date with the number of complaints they get - there must be a good business case for the additional staff, since there never seems to be a reduction in the number of  scammers (either new or old one's re-applying).

What's the solution?  It has been suggested on more than one occasion, once by myself in a survey initiated by Alibaba and at least once by another member posting in the Forums, that there should be a customer rating of suppliers similar to ebay or Amazon.  The genuine suppliers could also help themselves by being more flexible in their payment options, i.e. offering means of payment that give the buyer some protection.  That would quickly sort out the wheat from the chaff.   Alibaba should be encouraging suppliers to consider this.  Alibaba also ought to consider involving a reputable escrow service (with a commission to Alibaba for each transaction).  It's obviously going to be a little more expensive for one or more of the parties involved in a transaction, but it should only be necessary until a good trading relationship has developed.  This has to be driven by Alibaba and they need to stress to suppliers how important it is to ensure buyer confidence in the initial stages of the trading relationship.
Perhaps when the site earns a reputatation for providing only relable suppliers the will find that buyers are willing to pay to join.
