That depends the payment terms you deal with the supplier.

And only you have the original B/L on hand, you can pick up the goods.

Paper is dense, heavy and subject to an inherent vise of risk involving internal mould, humidity and water damage.

Make sure you buy all risks cargo insurance.
Ensure your supplier is an experienced shipper and knows how to package and protect the goods with minimal risk.
Ensure proper blocking and bracing is in place and the load is distributed evenly at origin. This is especially important with very dense pieces as they will move around during transit.

Although maximum tonnage on a 40ft is up to 26 tons, it's best practice to stick to 18 metric tons to comply with north american road restrictions or there will be extra charges, e.g. tri-axle surcharges, overweight surcharges or simply impassable roads.

Check any import restrictions or requirements for paper and paper products in the USA. Products made from cerrtain types of wood are banned. Wooden skids have to be fumigated and require fumigation certificates. Checking your import restrictions is your first step.

Contact me if you require any further help.
