What does it mean when the client ask for samples?
Post 1 of 28
Hello everyone.

I'm Melody. I'm a newbie. I have been working in trading for one and a half month.

Yesterday I sent my first samples. What does this mean? Normally how many suppliers would the buyer choose to ask for samples?

If our quality is OK, what is the probability for us to get the order?

What should I do additionally to get the order?

I want to know more about trading as a manufacturer. I am starved of your advice. Thanks a lot.

Melody

think twice before sending free samples, as there're so many superficial buyers while they're actually not at all.

Did you send a free sample out? Usually the customer will buy one or two samples. I have never encountered free samples in my line of work. Keep in touch with your client. You will close a deal.

From my point of view, there are two possibilities, one is the buyer really has interest in your products and asks for samples to test the market; and the other is the buyer is not a serious one and wants to collect samples ONLY!

You know, there are so many people ask for samples(music pillows) everyday. That won't be a small amount,so our company has a rule that all sample cost and freight charge should be borne by our clients.Additionally,we will do some adjustment according to specific situation.I think if it is a serious buyer, surely he can understand this stipulation.

Good luck!

Sorry to reply you so late, because I am so busy recently.

We manufacture telescopic products. The client download the image from our website and ask for the sample. They are willing to pay for sample charge, but our factory didn't have a price list for samples. So we offer samples for free while they pay for the the express fee.

Is it authentic in this situation?

Usually we send free samples but we would ask our client to pay for express fee. Sometimes, express is more expensive than our samples. Is it more authentic in this way?

If the client are willing to pay for the expensive express, is that means he is very interested in our product?

Normally, in the case of a small value product it is OK to send it for free. The courier charges are the filter, if a buyer is ready to pay for it that would mean he is in fact interested.

To increase your chance to get a deal, ask your partner if he is satisfied with the sample, what is his opinion about it, and ask for his ideas on how could you improve your product to meet his demands. Express that you really care about his opinion.
