Firstly I would like to say how sorry I am that you find yourself in this unfortunate, but very familiar situation.  I too am in an identical situation with a company called MINGHANGJEWELRY.  I paid them $944.30USD for some beads on the 7th February.  Up until problems occured this person communicated with me regularly, now they have my money and they know I am not happy with the sample products they have offered, and after requesting a refund, they too have now become "Unavailable".

I really don't know what to suggest.  If I have no luck by the end of the weekend I will contact alibaba.com and see if they can help me.  If not, then I guess it will have to be another lesson learnt. 

To be truthful I don't think that researching a company can give you a gaurantee.  People are able to write what they want, and all we have, as buyers, are their words.  This is now the second time I have been scammed, the first time was for £2000GBP.  My remedy now, is to post daily posts on the buying leads section, to warn other people about the dodgey companies.  Hopefully, on readiing stories where named companies have scammed other buyers, this will make them think more than twice before doing business with them.

I really do wish you all the luck in resolving this, and I hope you get the outcome you so rightly deserve.

I have emailed them asking them to use the escrow system and they have not replied so we will not be doing business wth them.
