I use the IP lookup service here: http://www.arin.net/whois/

You need to use the IP address (a series of numbers not the email address) of where the mail is coming from.  It is sometimes useful, sometimes not.  The reason is, that many of these scammers know how to fake the IP and hide their real IP address.  It allows them to look like they are coming from some place that they are not.  Too bad.  I wish there were a foolproof way to positively identify the origin of these scammers.

One other very handy site I use for checking out domains: http://www.dnstools.com/

When the scammers send you mail most of them will use a fake IP address to send, or they use other place server to work with his internet. so its better search him by his name, company name, contact phone number, or even trade leading.
also you can seach his products model number or contact place. it may help you from other way. just try everything possible.

Thanks .
