Whats the best way to enhance your website visibility on net?

Hi Friends,
I am sometimes very much confused of how to enhance the visibilty and the ranking of my website in search engines. I have submitted my website in don't know how many search engines or directories but still not required level of exposure. And now I came across a forum on the net where they said that we should not do the submissions in high numbers as then our website will be termed as a SPAM website.
So how to go about it?

Replying to [arvnidhi78]: i'm not a technical expert but i know there is an instrument called "search engine optimization" wich makes search engines rank your site better. ask a pro about that, they can do it for little money.

Another approach you could venture, once you have finalized your web site is to create more traffic to your site throuhg posting banners in other websites, where you believe your end customers could be. If they don't come to you, then you have to go where they are.
What is working for me, at this location where I post my banner, it is the dynamics of the banner, every week I change it, always announcing new products, and its advantages, or for special holidays like Mothers Day, launching promotions for them. Just be creative.
After enough traffic is generated, people will refer to your web site and you may discontinue the banner, as it served its purpose already.

Now that digita cameras are inexpensive, you can have lots of material to come up for your new banners.
