graduate business student trip to China
Post 1 of 5
the University of Connecticut will be taking a group of MBA students to China this November for the seventh (7th) year in a row. we are always interested in visiting local businesses so the students gain an appreciation for how business is conducted in China and how it differs from other countries. we will be in Beijing, Hong Kong, and a third area that has not yet been determined. we are considering Shandong, Guangdong, or Jiang Su provinces as part of the trip. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Glad to see American students are recognizing the value of China, when China, an emerging economic giant, is quickly becoming a major player in world affairs.

As I'm not sure whether your graduate students are able to speak Chinese, I would suggest some basic courses for students to learn modern Chinese history, society, economic development, or international business, as well as Chinese philosophy and arts, Chinese languages.

You are welcome to my city--Xiamen, a tropical seaside city in the bustling Fujian Province located between Shanghai and Hong Kong. Some famous hi-tech and clean industry giant like Dell set up their manufacturing base here. BTW, my sister is a deputy professor teaching in the Department of International Business & Trade of Xiamen University Tan Kah Kee College. If you need any help to connect the university, maybe I can help. (http://www.xujc.com/v3/aboutus/200702/article155.php)

After a basic Chinese study, a 10-day excursion to Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an, and Hong Kong will enhance the China impressions to your students. I am sure that it will be an exciting and un-forgetable China trip!

Based on my experiences ,below are my personal ideas here .

U should choose Guangzhou as the third city for your business students 's international study trip Reasons are as follows:

a.Guangzhou is one of the most important city for import and export business in China .It is the true reflection of Word Famouse Factory and Made In China slogans here .

b. Canton Fair( www.cantonfair.org.cn) is the world's largest trading fair for all kinds of chinese products . It is held two sessions within one year and very famouse in the world business .

c.Guangzhou has hundreds of wholesale markets and also world famouse companies in town . Students could visit them in person and study the business culture in person .

d. Guangzhou ranks high status in China's economy and if you study Guangzhou deeply and you could understand china business perfectly

Just to be frank with your side ,I made one business presentation for Mexico MBA students in Guangzhou in May .Their ISP programme is very similar as your project here .Their business trip includes Beijing ,Guangzhou and Hongkong and Shanghai .

If you find we may chance to cooperate ,just feel free to let me know .
