What can be learned from Apple in regards to Ipods

Do you really want to make money or try to eek out a living on the slim profit margins of buing Ipods from re-sellers? Ipods are made in China by Foxconn.
Did you realize that you can buy Chinese made MP3/MP4 players of excellent quality for a 1/3 of the price you would pay from a reseller of the Apple Ipod, and if the quanity ordered is sufficient you can have your own logo placed on the player as well as having the packaging made with your company name.
If you repeat the example of Apple you may some day have a company name that is as well known as they are. Its truely amazing that so many are willing to risk so much to be able to sell the same items, yet for a significantly smaller profit than those with the ability to buy 1000-10,000 pcs.
The point is for most, you can't compete on that level. So, as I say repeat the process that has made someone else sucessful. The most sucessful individuals and or companies are those that learn from the experiences of others and put them to work to make their businesses sucessful as well.

Apple has a network of distributors and pretty much have knowledge of the dense urban markets and where the middle income people lives, so they focus their marketing heavily on those areas. All that works fine to their advantage and have come with a business plan that is delivering good results.
Your idea is interesting but it should be lead by the Chinese manufacturer, if they want to compete head on with Apple and I believe they could have a strong case. Because if traders buy from Chinese manufacturers, they don't have information who else is buying the product (critical in products with a short life-cycle), and could end up having too many MP3 importers in the same market.
Chinese manufacturer could control the location of distributors, get feedback from local distributor regarding volumen of products needed on a quarterly basis, level of customer service requested, and more fine details like color and size.
I already imported MP4's with my logo o it, but sales are not there because many importers of similar models in my area. So the idea you presented is good but incomplete, need more planning and coordination with chinese manufacturer to avoid saturation.

Replying to [Vicente]: Vincente, the truth is if you open any MP3 player they are basically the same. How they are packaged even the case they are in can set you apart. True Chinese manufacturers make the product identical except for the memory. They may change the colors of the covers which is easy to do on any assembly line. But if you really want to be noticed for a product they make I would suggest that you contract with them to design a different covering. How you can very any generic product is only limited to the exponential posibilities of any design group.

Please do not buy anything form this supplier ZHengdetrade, they are a fraudlent company they will send you goods which are cheap are soon as they drop on their floor they are broken. I repeat do not but form them , the person Bill Wu, is a fruadlent inidvidual, i now want my money back but refuse to do so, we must make a blacklist of these fraudlent companies like this as soon as possiable
