In scrap metal import/export, there are certain things that come handy.

1.Chemical Analysis report- Obtain a chemical analysis report of goods in question from reputable Laboratory and send with every quote. It makes it easy for buyer to decide early.

2.Pictures from Scrapyard- This gives an idea to the buyer of contents of scrap.Copper scrap from wires, pipes and utensils have diferent rates.

3.Performance Bank Guarantee- As seller, you are required to provide Counter bank guarantee @2% normaly, against L/C value.

4.Inspection Agency- To authenticate quality and quantity of goods despatched.

5.Possession Certificate- In order to quote, autheticated certificate of possession of goods is demanded by buyers.

6.Certificate of origin- Plays an important role in deciding buying decisions

7.Shipping Line-Dedicated shipping lines to carry loads in barges are important for bulk cargo movements.

asian firms should begin to acquire or start new scrap yards in the USA, just like auto mfgs established plants here.  then by offering quality and strict integrity, grow .

this is a simple and natural approach.  scrapguy

Question for Sixer

Hello Sir

I have read few of your articles and many of your informative post on the forum, and i was able to get a lot of insight about the scrap metal trade. However i still have few questions for and i would appreciate if you can answer them

1. On many of the web portals there are most of the agents and brokers who are listing leads but very few genuine as depicted by the prices they offer which are not at all possible. I would like to know when prices are so easily available on internet what how does a broker or an agent makes money?

2. Both suppliers and buyers are not willing to quote there prices rather asking the other party to offer the best possible price, is there any website or forum where we can get relatively actual fob and cif costing?

I have many question on my mind, i would appreciate if you can give me your TM id and i can discuss few things with you. Possibly something can be worked out

Regards

Voyager

My Question is has anyone on here ever been able to close an HMS 1-2 or Rail deal from someone on Alibaba? It seems to be nothing but brokers claiming that they have supply but when it comes down to a yard inspection it never happens. In fact it has happened to us so many times we have gone to a policy that we wont even sign contracts without a yard inspection pre-contract. We then sign at the yard and open the L/C within 24hrs. We have done this with non-Alibaba members to some success. Do you have any tips for finding true suppliers? Our company represents a buyer with access to over a billion dollars ear marked for buying used rail and scrap and we cant find a single real seller of either on here. Or if they might be real their procedures are so restrictive we cant even do business with them. They'll want us to give them all the information about our buyers, banking etc but wont tell us where the rail is, who owns it etc. Any advice would be wonderful. Real sellers that can extend a yard inspection with contracts signed at yard and can accept a non-transferable L/C would be even better.

I have good supply for some scrap from Israel - please advise if any interest to riviz@bigpond.net.au
