Dear Israfil,

India and China are big buyers for these commodities.

Re: Metal Scrap Import/Export-Some pre-requisites
Replying to [sixer]:I intend to import scrap from Kenya. Kindly advise us the various documents required to import to secure ourselves. Also, advise us about the format for LOI, the payment terms as the seller is new to us and as well what payment terms should we go for.
How can we bound the seller against the dust and metal shortages?
Looking forward to hear from you soon.
Thanking You

Regarding HMS 1/2 - what about the paint?

The buyer wants guarantees that color/painted material is not present in the scrap. I would qualify that as a chemical analysis, or?...

Does anyone know what is the relevance for the mills / melting process?

Thanks for great assistance so far! [em19]

Dear Anshul,

Please ask for proof of possession from the seller and better still, check physicaly.

Ask for BCL from bank of seller.

Use revolving L/C as payment mode against PBG provided by their bank.

Contact on TM if you need more info.

Re: Re: Re: Metal Scrap Import/Export-Some pre-requisites
Replying to [sixer]:Dear Sir,
I thank you for your email. Seller is ready to give Proof of Product via SWIFT but he is asking for BCL from Buyer. What should be the Payment Terms as the seller is unknown to us?
His payment terms:
a. Preferred: (BG) Irrevocable confirmed bank guarantee (standby credit) for term of Contract paid at sight per contract shipping schedule. No surcharge for non-transferable credit.
b. Acceptable: (LC) Fully-funded, irrevocable, confirmed, transferable, revolving documentary credit. Surcharge for non-transferable credits: $7/MT.
12. Contracts are between Buyer (with funds) and Seller (with goods). Credits are advised only for benefit of Seller.
Are these Payment terms advisable?
Also, what does 2% PBC Performance Bond Guarantee mean?
Looking forward to hear from you soon.

Thanking You
Yours Sincerely
Anshul Goyal
