Most everyone knows that rice can be grown with the paddy method. Not everyone knows that it can be grown on dry land. With so many of you living in countries that grow rice, it would be nice if many of you will share your knowledge about the different ways to grow rice. Please share.

In these times of such water shortage and droughts as we have experienced in Australia it will become necessary. We are biodynamic growers which is more than just organic. It is the quality of growing that is important, and the method and developing new ways as the planet goes through these changes.

it says that there is a research for growing rice on lack of water environment. the research was held by International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) in Philippine.
Irrigated Rice Research Consortium (IRRC) explaining the method as Aerobic System. this system is like growing plants on high ground like wheat. which the rice field is not flooded by water (unlike mud system on low ground). so, the soil become oxygenate during plant season. The water supply also came from rain which kept in medium.
The first generation of variety are IR55423-01 (Apo) and UPLRI-5 from Philippine, B6144-MR-6-0-0 from Indonesia and CT6510-24-1-2 from Columbia. While China and Brazil have already use Aerobic system since 1980.
this system has advantages in harvest result which greater than mud system and low maintenance. For the disadvantages with more risk to plant disease.
