How about import from China, many cheap goods that you might make good profits in your country.
Many big businesses have a humble start.

Abd,

Your English is ok.... but keep practising.

Can you learn more than what you did in College? Heck yes!

For a start read lots of the postings in the Basics/Due Diligence/ Marketing and maybe even the Shipping and Fraud & Payment forums.... There is a wealth of information in them about all sorts of things that you will need to know before you spend any money on anything!.

Do some reading and then you will be in a position to ask explicit questions that others here might be able to help with.

Best of luck, and go slowly!

Dear Alaged Mohamed,

Thank you for the candid expression, it is right to have the enterprise spirit.

1. Your interest in E-trade may be good enough to convince you to take up E-business as your career path, however this has got lots to do with your studies. Studying the subject is like a nesting period, where the young bird learn to take the regurgitated food from its parents and develop its own feathers and wings. Starting and running a business is where the young bird has got to leap out of the nest and take its own flight, exposing to the dangers of predators and gravity.

2. What business field? This you have to answer for yourself. Business is like an extension of something you like to do, and being good at. For example, people who are interested to meet other people, and like to socialise are likely to be in the tourism business. Also there are the resources, the capital, the strategic advantage of the location and the ability to communicate and bring benefits to the customer.

3. Any other skills? If you want to start a tourism business on line, your skills will be to know the tourist site, food and habits of the tourists. You got to know your history, and study on tour guide from the tourism board of Egypt. Probably you have to obtain a license. On the Internet, you must learn advertising skills, how to get the sales and do on-line booking. Network security to prevent hackers, fraud and credit card theft. You have to know about secured transactions. Marketing skills, set up affiliates and sub-agents in different countries and in different languages. Do business intelligence, with active X elements, cookies and mass emails. Must know some basics and employ a graduate to do it.

4. Can I make use of my location in Egypt for starting business? - Yes, there is no limit for E-commerce to start up, only the bandwidth of your Network connection. You cannot expect a dial-up modem of 56K to run quick enough to download and upload transactions, so it is more of the infrastructure and if you can get Super highway (ADSL) speed in Egypt, why not?

First thanks for this great reply i think I'll have my nest college study here in Alibaba.com I'll try to follow this advices But i have a note i meant by e-business or E-trade im interested in is B2B business like impoting and exporting and being a broker.

I already worked for some period - 1 year - as a broker for some bitumen and scrap traders from Egypt and Middle east But i had many problems due to lack of knowlege - resources and my age.I liked that business but i stopped now and im trying to find easier business to be my start and I'll return to the field of bitumen and scrap when i build my financial and trade knowlege base

At last thanks again For every one who replied me

Replying to [Abd allah]:Bitumen has become an important commodity.

This is due to the difficulty to obtain transportation for any form, by land or sea. Throughout the world, there are only less than 200 bitumen cargo ships, they have to be fitted with heated cargo tanks of up to 60 Celsius, which must be maintained all the time. Once the bitumen cools, it hardens like concrete and expands. So if the heating system breaks down half way on its journey, the bitumen tanker may sink, the cargo tanks split open and ship takes in sea water. The heated Bitumen is also classified as "Dangerous Cargo" and the environment on deck is class 1 Division 1 Zone 1 or 0 according to the location on board. ... this simply means the class for expolosion - proof installations of electrical equipment, boilers, pumps and working condition has to be explosion-proof or intrinsically safe. You have got to read the Regulations and Classifications of shipping norms such as the SOLAS 1974, Chapter 11-2 Regulation 60 paragraph 7 or the IMO MSC/Circ. 551 aka IBC BCH Code. MARPOL 73/78 Annex 1 Chapter 11 Regulation 15, (3) (b) and the IMO Resolution MEPC 5 (XIII) Annex 4. .... All these meaning you have got to know the legal boundaries, who and where to charter the ships from and what qualifications the vessels should have to be allowed to carry such cargo.

Replying to [Abd allah]:As to where to start from - start from home, If you need more space, look for premises if and when you need them. Start small, then you wont lose much if things go wrong, but be ready to go big if things go right. I do not know what sort of things you are interested in trading but I would say that it is possible to start importing/exporting with a few hundred dollars but spend it wisely as there are lots of people willing to take your money for nothing.

Replying to [Abd allah]: Hi, as for your question, I would like to reply as following:
1. If im really interested in E-trade as a career for my future Where can i start my business from (under condition i dont have much fund)? ----You can read some books on E-commerce, and would better learn some software skills too. And next you'd better search for more e-commerce sites, of course, famous ones would be better. And then pick up what kind of industry or industries you would like to work in.

2.What business fields do you advice me to enter? ----- It depends on your own interest, for there are many e-commerce websites now, different industries or specialized in one industry. However, if I were you, I would just pick up one or two, and then specialize in it or them.

3.is there any knid of expertise or knowlege rather than my college learning that i should acquire to enter this field? ----- Search for more e-commerce websites, and try to know more about them, like their structures, styles and so on. And communicate with more people online.

4.Can i make use of my location in egypt for starting my business?----Of course you can. We are connected by internet now! So you don't need to just focus on you location. However, maybe you can find a cooperator in other countries. For example, maybe we can have a good and long term cooperation.

Good Luck!
