I've tried requesting samples off a seller (5 pieces) but they insist i make an order of 20 (which is their MOQ). I've offered to pay postage cost (advice from traders on here) but they have turned me down. The products I am referring to are Wii modchips.

Not really sure what i should do next. Im fairly new to B2B trading (one month) so any advice/info would be really helpful.

Thanks

Normally a sample is a single piece ordered for testing. The 5pcs is below the suppliers MOQ so they are reluctant to deal with you because their profits is very low this way.

Additionally, are you sure your supplier is serious and honest? Don't they possibly want to urge you into a larger order to rip more money off from you? Wii is a favourite scam area.

What's the value of the chip? Is it $50-100, is that is teh case, no way they will give you a freebie.

Put yourself in their shoe. if I ring you up for $500 worth of goods, would you give them to me?

I apologize for the late reply, work has been bogging me down. Per piece it is $20-$25us. Is it still unreasonable to request a 5 piece sample ?

Mate, you have got to be kidding.  You expect a stranger to hand over $100 worth of hard ware to you without even knowing you. You are as bad a Nigerian 419. Come on dude. US$100 is like RMB800, that's like 3 months wage for a factory worker.

I've made the jump and ordered 5 pieces, the seller on Alibaba has been a "Gold Supplier" for 3 years. Not sure if that means anything, but im hoping its good. Im paying via paypal so i will have some form of protection.

Im really hoping that these will come through

3 year old gold suppliers are usually professionals so I think you'll be okay. However, don't rely on PayPal to protect your purchases. PayPal only refund your money if the items were bought from ebay and never delivered/not as described. It was a costly lesson that I learnt when I was new.

sample should always be done, if they wont do just one then it's a scam. You could become there biggest client in a year or so, everryone should be intrested in any order!

Fuard seems to work on here like this gold memberships and trust pass cost x amount COCKs in order to spend x amount need to make x amount before they get kicked off alibaba (this is im told 3 compliants) this means they wont take small orders.

This is why it's so easy for electrical scamers to exist the cost of say laptops, mobiles is really high not many orders needed to make the x amount to cover joining, by the time alibaba get to the point of booting them the've sold y amount which is above x and laugh to the bank get closed and start with a new name and address easy to do but you have to be a nasty to do so.

ANYONE OUT THERE A REAL ELECTRONIC COMPANY PLEASE CONTACT ME ON littledannyj@hotmail,com i want laptops and computer compoents.

and i only accept LC for sample and first few transactions, then 25% terms for orders there after. after a good year of business i'll do TT 100% down.

PAYAPL WONT HELP ANY ORDER, LC IS YOUR BEST BET THIS IS WHEN YOUR BANK SENDS DOCUMENTATION PROVING YOU HAVE SAID MONEY. ANY DECENT COMPNAY WILL ACCEPT THIS.

after all they have huge amounts of cash so a sample shouldn't hurt them if it is fruadulent unlike the buyer whom loses there sunday roast.

forgot to say there is also cash on delivery! another very good starter for B2B relationships.

I can explain the sistuation by giving my own example, we deal in leather and agro goods, one of the problem we face if the buyer is asking us to manufacture a customize or a product which is diffrent from what we have in stock so we want the buyer to give us atleast order for 12-15 units so it can be cost effective for us.

but if a buyer is asking to arrange any product which is already manufactured by us and is ready to bear the freight charges and the product cost, then I personally dont think some one should hesitate if the product is already manufactured in the required quantity.
