Post 1 of 6
According to www.alexa.com the current Traffic Rank for alibaba.com is 103 whereas it was 61 three months ago.

There should be a reason !!!

Dear Hamdan,

You are correct to say that the traffic has dropped in terms of ranking for the number of visitors or hit rates to the Alibaba Dot Com Web Page.

However if you look at similar portals like: PRICEONLINE, EBAY, TAOBAO and Amazon (book store online), you will find the similar trend for both Ebay and PriceOnLine, but for Taobao, the trend is not affected by the lower traffic rate.

Portals like Alibaba is a honey nest for companies to do their BI (Business Intelligence), data mining. You will find hosts of scammers, sellers of all kinds of services and goods extracting these data. Recently I have phone calls from an Investment company from the Philippines. The woman from this company phoned me over the IP system (cheap IDD calls) and got my name as registered with Alibaba site, my phone number and address. Somehow they got hold of my data and have been bugging me to invest at least US$10,000 into some fantastic stocks.

Everyday, I got at least half a dozen emails from people who pose as Dr. So and So, and have millions of dollars to put into my bank account because of the difficulty to transfer the funds out of their country. The deal is so attractive, for doing nothing, they are willing to give me 10% of the hundreds of million US Dollars, but just give them the bank account number, and then send them the rest of the money minus the 10%. In which the cheque for the fund itself is a fraud and pre-dated, so that it will be impossible for a foreign bank to clear the funds within the deadline of 6 months. The rule for all International cheque issued by the bank has to be cleared in that country, the bank need to send the cheque back to its office in the country, which will take about a month. By then the cheque would have expired.

These are the problems bugging the Alibaba Trust Pass Members and Free Members alike. Lots of enquiries are from fake companies, I found them out when I called them on the phone number given, there was no such company or phone line.

Taopao trend is straight, and it could be for other reason than transactions. Every moment on the forum page spent can be translated into fruitful business that could generate income. Most of the moderators spend more than 5 hours on the computer on Alibaba forum, which does not generate any returns, except some pointless arguments and garbage writings that they have to read.

Replying to [Street Smart]:
The chart shows the dips in the hit rates of Alibaba and Taopao during the holiday periods.

You may observe, the dips in both Alibaba and Taopao mean peaks to the other websites like E-bay and PriceOnLine. This demonstrates the mobility of the audience and they will visit the site which has people in the 'office' to give them immediate response.

For Alibaba to improve its ratings, it has to brush up the scammers, protect the data from spy wares and data mining. Get rid of scammers, with intelligence and information from the audience. Alibaba must have the legal power to prosecute fraudalent sellers especially among its Free Members. It should motivate and reward Trust Pass Members and make them feel their money spent brings benefits.

Replying to [rtegroup]: I believe there is a lot that has to be done for Alibaba to regain its place and trust. We the memebers of this forum shoul.d look for ways to attract more serious minded people to Alibaba apart from serious and genuine discussions we should also have attractive side attractions that will make people want to come to Alibaba again and again.[em19]

What's wrong with using a cheap IPO phone? It makes good business sense to me to use the most economical resource at your disposal, you show your lack of business sense trying to portray the use of a VOIP system as a bad thing. Telemarketing is a huge global industry and most companies out there use some form of marketing over the phone, now you try to slander company's for offering you fantastic stocks, I am one of many happy clients that don't post anything in these forums usually becasue we are completely satisfied with the level of service provided by their advisors. Let me ask you a very uncomplicated question, would you rather they offered you some terrible stocks to buy instead of fantastic ones? Enough said since you didn't take them up on the offer you have no right to slander them. Would you like someone to do that to your company with no reason or proff of wrongdoing?

Replying to [rtegroup]: It is great that somebody has said that the king does not have clothes.

Alibaba is a huge nest for scammers and we are getting a lot of scam mails.

Unless people benefit from Alibaba, they will not trust it anymore.

Another great thing is that other trade sites are vigorous in weeding out the scammers and we don't get spam mails from those trade sites.

But Alibaba needs to change.

Alibaba should not be compared with Amazon or Ebay who are into different level direct online retail business. It should be compared with other trade sites who offer buying and selling services.
