If the item is small and under .5kg its would cost little, more than this the prices shoot up,
All door to door services are high, and thats one reason not many people buy samples, as a pocket bike would cost about $300 to send to uk, so paying $50 for the bike its not so cheap,

for buyers that need the sample to check its ok, as this is business, just one sample, for other its not worth it, and the taxes can be added too.

Replying to [JBsportsuk]: I am talking with one company from china, First they told me that 10 MP4s which weight around 5KG cost 47USD and as much I will increase weight (order) the cost per kg will be decreased subsequently. Even the guy told me that 7usd will charged for extra per kg. I was happy with this cost. My final order was 10kg and I going to repeat same order for at least quite few times and company is asking me for 210USD for EMS shipment cost.

Can anyone tell me if EMS really charge 210usd for 10kg of weight

You should visit Parcel2Go.com. They use different couriers, mainly FedEx and DHL, but they have negotiated a discount which will beat what you might be charged by going direct. In my view both FedEx and DHL will try to overcharge any new customer if they can. Going through Parcel2Go would get a 10kg parcel from China to UK for around £70 (they add a fuel surcharge but this can be offset by searching the internet for a promotional code - such is the way these companies operate!). I am sure there will be other similar services around and I would be pleased to hear about them.

An alternative to the above is to ask the supplier to use normal mail and offer to pay for this. The option to give your DHL/FedEx account number is often put forward by suppliers but I don't know about you but I certainly am not willing to pay their quoted shipping rates.

Well, sending samples are not cheap... haha..... I had asked for many samples from overseas before, and none of them are cheap.

All the samples I received ranged from USD$200 ~ $300 (Note:frozen goods). I am a little surprise that you have to pay so much for "dry" goods too. I am not sure but I suspect your seller is giving the max estimate since additional cost may incur during the actual shippment. That is what I do too, I gave the max shipping fee to my buyers. And most of them dont want my product anymore............

That is the Risk you have to take. Good luck.
