Which way is more effective to stop fakes for your patented product?
Post 1 of 8
For suppliers:
When a counterfeit version of your patented product is introduced to the market, how do you handle the situation? What do you find is more effective to stop fakes? (for example, legal action which can be costly, changes in your advertising, or offering rewards for loyal dealers/distributors.
For buyers:
Would you rather pay more to have the patented original, or would you rather have a cheaper, lower quality, knock off of the product you are looking for?

Dear Cali Rugger,
When you see counterfiet, buy one piece with bill , locate the source and file for injuction from designated court forcing the manufacturer to close shop.Interim injunction is generaly granted by courts, pending full trial so that your market is not spoiled.

This is a good question. Im a distributer for electronic components and equipment and have been counterparts in the past of certain products, like Rolex watches which have the all too fimilar reputation of being knok-foffs for the real thing. The key thing I fine is honesty. Tell the customer that you (as in your company) are all too aware of the counterfeit products going about and that you ensure that you find the best suppliers and manufactures to ensure that a fake is sought out before it reached your customer. Also, put in place a special complaints policy, as a fail-safe, for the event tha ift a fake does get to a customer you can then action that polocy and resolve the situation quickle and effectivley.
