Hi,

I would appreciate someone informing me how much UK import duty I would have to pay on goods worth £10,000 sterling being imported to the UK from China.

Thanks

Best way is that you call UK Customs. They will tell you.

Quoting from [claytropic]:

duty is dependent on what the product is.. the 17.5% mentioned I think is VAT is it not? Thats not the same as DUTY as far as I am aware

Import duty is seperate from VAT, it is an additional levy charged by European Governments for goods taht originate from outside Europe. Duty cannot be reclaimed back like with VAT.

The rate of duty will differ depending on what items you bring. They can range from 3% to 40% of the value of your invoice.

So when you are quoted FOB prices, you have to add on top, freight charges (which is usually to a shipping port or airport), import duty, anti dumping (if applicable), other local import charges (if applicable), customs clearance, delivery to your door and VAT.

Hope this helps
