What is the proper best way to confirm the legitimacy of a company located in Taiwan? Our company recently wire transferred a large sun of money for a purchase and have been unable to contact the supplier to obtain a tracking number, confirmation of receipt of payment and confirmation of a tracking number. The company represented itself as Momo Electronics. Please respond if you have any information to share with regards to this company and/or any suggestions. thanks!

Replying to [Suzeyque]: Like Tina has said their is no company in Taiwan with the name MOMO. Now you have to understand that would be scammers use recognizeable names. MOMO is a brand name for an italian company which produces high end parts for Automobiles and is well known on the Formula 1 Racing circuit. also there is a real company called MOMO Communications Ltd. It is in the UK I take it that both of you were trying to purchase I-Mate smart phones. If you would have merely contacted the manufacturing facility or the owner of the I-Mate trade mark you could have saved yourself some money.

I continually see those that feel it is the responsibility of Alibaba to insure that legitimate companies are using their sight in a legal way to promote legal business.

So if you would, please show me where the likes of any other periodical, newspaper, magazine or platform insures that the advertisements that you respond to are conducting legal business and will insure you against financial loss.

If you want insurance like this then there are B2B sites out there that allow no free members and charge you 15 Thousand dollars for access or the right to market your products only after completing an exhaustive DNB profile on your company.

Free members pay for nothing so what are your expectations? Something for free? If you signed on to Alibaba and you checked and read the policies of Alibaba where is your legal basis to stand on?

Even if you were to purchase an exhaustive report from DNB on a company they make no guarantee that the business will not scam you. No person or entity can guarantee that. That is the risk of doing business on a global level or any other level for that matter. Can anyone really be so naieve as to think that businesses become successful through mere ads on a page.

Their success rises and falls with word of mouth referals. You are 20 times more likely to refer a friend or collegue to a business that you have had sucess with than to even talk about a company you have had no success with.

The money you put up for any purchase can only be insured against the due diligence you preform for your own company or do not preform.
