I wondered what type of advertsing have worked for your business approximately how much they costed, who your target, and why you think that particular form of advertising worked for you.
Also if you would like, what hasn't worked, and why it didn't.

I'd be very interested in the comments you make.

Hot Topic Recommend

Dealing with Chinese Suppliers • Shipping freight costs • Doing business in Christmas
• Business in economic crisis • Ensure a manufacturer is ethical
• Protect the business from copying • Be the last man standing
• To find the quality China goods • Payment beneficiary issue
• Buyer's starting steps in Alibaba • Suppliers like such payment terms

Ahmet,

It is not so, because Advertisement is considered old-fashioned and obsolete.

There are more effective ways to Promote the products, and each is different from the other, depending on the country, culture and buying habits.

Modern term of the Marketing Mix, as Promotion - one of the 4 Ps, is now replaced by the word "Marketing Communication".

Nothing wrong to share text book learnings and theories of this Communication without compromising your own strategy or "secrets to success".

Promotion of the company and its products comes in verious forms and works.

For on-line marketing or promotion, there are:

Electronic Promotion.

   1. Email blasting of promotional items, either new product or existing product but with some sales gimicks.

   2. Internet marketing - advertising attractive websites with very low prices and good quality products of the latest technology and designs.

   3. Put up websites that will start the ball rolling, be magnetically attractive to the visitors with the common interests.

   4. Form keywords that will be catchy for the Search Engine Spiders, and make yourself know to as many B2B sites as possible, register in those sites, and affiliate marketing sites.

   5. Use catch phrase, slogans and variants of the product description. Lodge your website with Host Server that has multi-language translators.

   6. Eye the highest rated websites, search engines and participate activily in it. Always do some promotion of your company.

   7. Design your website to be browser-friendly, and band-friendly, meaning to be able to open on Mac browsers, Firefox,  Internet Explorer, or even text-only browsers, and narrow band modem, analogue type with speeds of 56K bps, or lower, also for broadbands of super speed.

   8. Make your website interesting and beneficial to the visitors, like having a feedback and discussion forum, where members can learn from one another, or a Q & A Section where the answers to most common questions asked are listed. Make web-chat available, and web cam, but not to compromise security and speed.

   9. Sell benefits and not features, although they are great, but has to do with people benefiting from it.

  10. Website's success are rated by International standard as successful in the number of hit rates and time of stay on the site. Others may be the number of pages the visitors go through.

Part 2

Non Electronic Promotion

   1. Word of mouth - from the circle of end-users who have been the customers. Rating such as: Customer 's satisfaction, good pre and after-sales service and Customer Relation Management. Some countries place the importance of Customer's testimonies, but some give a list of their customer reference for the new customer or prospects to check on. This may be used by their competitors to spy on them.

   2. Printing of brochures - short brochures or flyers in one or two pages phamplet size is for seasonal promotion. There should be a general brochure for the company product and their services. I find this lacking in many companies whose sole focus is on one method of promotion, the Electronic Commerce way.

   3. Visitations - Offline face-to-face contacts, appointments and meeting people face-to-face, making visits to the prospects' site has greater impact than sending emails and telephone calling.

   4. Physical Demonstration - This is the greatest impact to convince the buyer of the product.  Seeing is believing and touching is also believing, so a good demonstration of the product makes sales promotion a big punch.

   5. Gifts promotion, discount vouchers, Rewards Points, and quantity discounts are all good promotion gimmicks. Some have lucky draws to win a car, or a luxuary apartment if you spend more than an amount of money.

   6. Telemarketing is catching up to be a form of promotion. People can ignore the mailbox, or delete the emails without even opening the contents, but they cannot resist not to answer the phone ringing. Phone marketing is catching up to include sending short messages (SMS) or MMS. It has a great future ahead.

   7. Last but not least - Test products. Products are given free to the user to test for a period of time, and if they like it, buy and pay for it, if not, dump it away or return it to the seller. This is more prevalent with software provider.

I am running out of space, next post, I will talk more.
