Hi guys,
I noticed there are many people from all over China here but nobody from Shanghai. Hmm...why is that?
I prefer to buy from Shanghai due to shipping arrangement. Somehow nobody seemed to be able to route my goods through Singapore. I don't know why. So I have to ship direct from Shanghai.

But I think it is same for any place in China to route your goods. he/she can contact the supplier and arrange shipment as your required. as some forwarder has branches in different city.

Hey kenny
Doesn't matter, I've given up on this. It's too difficult trying to work with shipping companies in China. I tell them how to route the goods but they say cannot be done, so what to do.
Now that I have found a shipping company that has ships that go directly from Shanghai to my port, perhaps it's easier to just buy from suppliers in Shanghai.
Alternatively, I ship the container from say Shenzen to Shanghai and then to my port? The extra port handling fee might make it not viable. Anyone here in shipping business can advice?

Yes, the shipping company may not service you so good as an agent.
Why Shenzhen can not ship to your port? I think there should be ships to.
If the products locally made in Shanghai, that is not bad to buy from Shanghai, but make sure they are made by your supplier themselves. As my experience with Shanghai company when I was working in a factory, most of them from Shanghai are trading company, and all of them have a aim, that is cheap, cheap prices, so we can not use better material, and quality not so good too. I don't like to do business with people from there.
Here just to give you a remind if you decide to buy from supplier from there.

Hi Kenny
So you mean, not many factories in Shanghai?
I'm in a smaller town in Australia. So most freight from China goes to Singapore first and then come here. So I tried to explain this to my agent in China who in turn had to explian this to the shipping agent but the shipping people say cannot do or they want too much money. I was quoted USD180cbm. That's is a bit much.
Any shipping agents here? I am wandering how much is sea charges these days?
