Which payment is preferred both by suppliers and buyers?
Post 1 of 12

Which payment is preferred by suppliers and buyers? I think this will be determined by some factors: effectiveness,  safety, and the amount of payment. For example, the west union is very fast and very safe. However, it is a little costly.

There is no correct answer here as every situation is different.

TT is a popular payment method as it is fast and cheap and can be used safely provided that due dilligence is done on the seller and that goods are checked prior to shipment.

I think L/C or Letter of Credit at Sight is the best payment that is to be preferred by both suppliers and buyers as it has more secure payment terms...

I was told that western union was NOT the best, safest way to pay.. its too easy for the seller to take your money, Theres no guarantee, at least with a creidt card you can dispute the seller and have a better chance of getting your money back, pay pal told me to stay away from westers union payments,,,,,,,,,,  thanks

Western Union Scam
Author: Safe Trading Admin

This scam is becoming one of the most common scams used by scammers. Essentially, a Western Union scam is any scam that takes place using the Western Union method of payment.

Most commonly, there is a situation where a buyer pays for something via Western Union, and then never receives what was paid for; or the buyer pays for an item via Western Union, and then receives an item of a value far lower than what was actually paid for.

Please note this scam takes a various number of forms for a wide variety of items. Just because it does not match exactly your transaction or potential transaction, does not mean it is not the same scam. In other words, avoid any scams the resembling the following situation.

1. Buyer finds an item at a price far lower that what would actually be paid for that item.

2. Buyer shows interest in the item, thinks the deal is too good to pass up, and asks for more information on how to complete the transaction. The scammer knows the victim is already interested.

3. The seller tells the buyer to send the money via Western Union, the seller then asks for the Western Union MTCN # or the money transfer number (this is basically a number that gives the thief access the money).

4. Once the thief has the MTCN or money transfer number, he/she can pick up the money at any Western Union worldwide and disappear. The buyer has paid, but the item that was paid for will never be sent.

I may be overstating things here, but I would say that pretty close to 90% of product problems could be avoided by ensuring that a competant inspection is done BEFORE goods are shipped. Certainly shipping goods without checking them before they ship is a risky practice.

No payment method whatsoever will save you the work of due diligence. The cash retainment service of PayPal is only a possible last resort. If you want to decrease your risks it is your responsibility to do your research, it is useless to blame your fault on the payment methods.
