Hi,

I was about ordering few item on Alibaba website from a Chinese suppliers who has Gold membership account and trust points, but i don't really get how does Alibaba works...

when it says [verified member] does it really mean they have physically checked their companies/address/bank details and so on...

I'm a bit worry about sending money via T/T and not receiving my products as this has happened to me for several times from different websites etc. TradeGate.com, DHgate.com, EC21.com...

Does Alibaba provide its suppliers any feedback at all?

How does trust points works, I have read it for few times, but don't really get how it works...

Please help with this issue, and by the way is there any particular reason of why Chinese suppliers/company verified members don't accept PayPal/Escrow?

Thanks and happy new year!

Gold Supplier and Trustpass status at alibaba means nothing about the trustworthiness of the seller - it just means that the seller has paid money for membership.

Often scammers will suggest to you that they must be a good company as alibaba gives them such status, whereas legitimate suppliers here at alibaba with the same status will not refer to it as they are aware that their credibility does not rely on paid membership to alibaba.

In most cases buying from China should be seen as a large quantity business. If you are looking to buy hundreds or thousands of units of something to get it direct from the manufacturer for cheap then you are in the right place. If however you are looking to buy tens or dozens of pieces, or less, then you are not in the right place in my opinion.

Most Chinese suppliers here at alibaba are legit but that only applies to the legitimate import/export business of large quantities.

Most scammers here at alibaba target low volume buyers as they know that those buyers:

a. are often new to the business and therefore do not know what they are doing;

b. often make quick orders when given unreal prices;

c. often pay in cash by WU or TT

So the way to protect yourself is:

1. never pay money to an individual in China no matter what payment method they offer. Only pay to a business.

2. Walk away from any company that offers you foreign brand name products as they have no legitimate avenue to obtain those products so are selling you a lie.

3. To be sure that you are getting what you are paying for spend the extra money on having the product inspected by an agent that you send to the factory before the product is shipped and before you release final payment.

The reason that Paypal and Escrow.com are not widely accepted here in China is that sellers in China are happy with the normal payment methods of TT and LC which is what big buyers use. So anyone looking to pay on Paypal or Escrow.com is likely a little buyer and the type that scammers target.

The {trustpass} and [gold supplier] meens nothing that you couldnt find out about that company in 20 seconds on google.

Just google the company name, address and contact' name and that will give you info about if they are scammers

Here too. I did my due diligence too late. $860. USD to HKBOKING. Amanda very helpful until I realized that my 64GB flash drives were 4GB drives. Scam all the way and I got plucked.

Most Gold memberships are trustable, for they have their own factory.
So find their factory picture.
Goof luck for everyone !
