CROSS-CULTURAL ETHICAL GUIDELINES..

1. Cultural context. Have I considered the other individual's value, feelings, and attitudes from his or her cultural point of view? Have I attemted to understand the context of the transaction from the other persons position? Do I beleive that all the other people involved fully understand the context of the transaction and all its implications?

2. Misunderstandings. Have I anticipated and try to correct any possible misunderstanding that might occur? Have I attempted to gain an understanding of the othe4r party's culture and what their expectation might be?

3. Language. Have I used language that can be clearly understood by other? Am I taking care not to use language and expressions that might offensive to other culture? Am I aware of the nonverbal aspects of my message and the ways they might change the message in a different culture?

4. Accountability. Have I completly fulfilled my standered for cross-cultural ethics? How would I feel if my family and friends knew all the details of the transaction? Am I being fair to all involved? How would I feel if the events were published on the front page of the newspaper?
