What was your security measures on your first overseas purchase??
Post 1 of 32
Hi, i would like to say that i have like 8 months on Alibaba but at this time i had never find the trust to make an overseas purchase.

So, i want to Ask to the community.

is the GOLD SUPPLIER , enough warranty to make an overseas deal??

As i have read all over Alibaba forums, the GOLD SUPPLIER is not enough for trusting to making a Deal.

So What was the security measures you took to make your first succesfull overseas purchsing!! ???
Thank

Neither Gold Supplier nor TrustPass means anything in terms of security for you. If you want to be safe involve a third party inspector or verify the partner yourself. I usually ask a Chinese friend to visit my partner personally to check before I order, and pay a fee.

Additionally, it is completely useless to verify "suppliers" of brand electronics, they are all scammers who live on the greed of other people and run away with their money.

There are many inspectors in the major cities of China. There is a list of reliable helpers at the Safe Tradings forums (I think) but you may want to pick an international inspection company like SGS (well they are expensive but absolutely reliable).

Querido Juan,

Have you read or heard of the story entitled "SOUR GRAPES" ?

If I have a choice between FREE MEMBER and TRUST PASS MEMBER (TP), I will choose TRUST PASS MEMBER, and GOLD MEMBER (GM).

Both TP and GM are verified companies by Alibaba. GM are members within the country of China, and their membership fees is very high, they are real companies checked and verified to be registered with the Authorities as physical companies in existence. The same criteria applies to TP members, who are outside of the country.

It takes three days for approval of application, not all applicants qualifies to be the TP or GM. There is an annual fee for these memberships.

People like Gabor (nickname) are just sour grapes, all those who say TP or GM are worthless are talking out of the other opening, not using their brains, if they have one.

Obviously, your opinion is being influenced by the many negative postings about TP and GM, which cases may not be true.

As in Cyber Business, there are many possible ways to cheat or deceive anyone, and one of them is by Spoofing, or imitation. Frequently, we receive emails from our banks and trusted parties asking for our log in ID and PASSWORD. Threatening us that the accounts will be invalid if we do not give them the two important keys to our accounts. Some of them did, and their accounts stollen.

There is also a possiblity to copy websites and upload a false website by the almost seemingly URL, a bit of twists on it, that is not recognizable apparently on casual browse.

If you receive any emails from your bank or Service Provider, asking for sensitive information, it must be the crooked people stealing them for their vicious crimes.

You just have to do your due diligence, and careful venture in cyber trading, make sure that the money you will be paying goes to the correct party. If the account is a personal then flee from the deal, because it is either an individual within the company or outside who has stolen the password trying to scam you. The chances for this to happen on TP and GM members are many times lesser than FREE members. Email address such as:

total_auto@hotmail.com  does not mean that it belongs to company called total auto company limited. There are so many possible ways to deceive in the Internet.

Free members are not verified, no authenticity, and nobody knows if they really exists or not. Even though they exists as real companies, it may be someone using the name, address and contact number of these real companies and register in Alibaba, without the knowledge of the real owner/s.

The best ways to verify the first purchase is to meet your customers in person. It concerns first to Asian companies because they really wish to meet first before starting mutual cooperation. this way is costly but I will help You to solve many points if You have serious intentions. If You just want to try You can keep in touch with SGS agency or any other famous companies that verify cargo before delivery. if the sum total allows You can ask the SGS certificate in documents and use LC. And what You need to make first is order small party for sampling. It will cost You not much and You will have an idea about the quality. but so far I consider the best way to verify the company is to meet in person and also use third party verification on dispatch. This also will give You an opportunity to get Your own representative in this region through finding a company in the place You will visit and discussing all the moments You want Your potential supplier to observe.

Dear Mr Street Smart,

opposite to you I am listed here under my real name.

Additionally, when I tell other members GM and TP (to use your abbreviations) does not mean anything to their security, I do it because I mean. Both qualifications indicate only that there is a company with that name that exist, nothing more.

Neither Trust Pass nor Gold Supplier memberships give you any clue about the honesty and professionality of the supplier or about the quality of their products, therefore, it is not illogical to say, that in terms of safe trading none of these labels give any security whatsoever. Relying exclusively on these qualifications for verifying a partner is at best misleading.

Last, I should like to contest your analogy of the "sour grapes" story. I do have partners from Alibaba, who I am very satisfied with. None of them is GM or TP member, but if they had been, I would have done my research anyway. I was already labeled paranoid for this kind of behaviour of mine, but I have never been scammed so far. I do good business. My posts are intended to encourage new traders to do their own research, instead of turning them away from trade as you may think.

Best regards,
