Drop Shipping as an Alternative!

Hi everyone

I have, for some time, been trying to contact Manufacturers/Suppliers in China with a view to "Drop Shipping" goods to customers in the UK.

On most ocassions I have been told that it is not a worthwhile project for most of the large businesses in China.

However, with the present financial climate, there are few companies outside of China who wish to risk large amounts of money in buying stock. Yet there are still lots of customers out there who, for the right price, will willingly purchase everyday household products.

So we have a ready stream of customers to buy the products, many people all over the world who wish to arrange "Drop Shipping" of the products and alas, many manufacturers who appear to be unimpressed by the whole idea of "Drop Shipping".

Given that the amount of world trade is decreasing, is it not sensible for the manufacturers and suppliers to take another look at "Drop Shipping", at least as a stop gap until the world economy recovers.

There are millions of dollars of "Drop Shipping" trade going to waste simply becasue the willing suppliers cannot be found, yet "Drop Shipping" is so safe for the suppliers who do not send out any goods untill payment for the goods and the postage has been received by them.

Is it not time that ALL companies worldwide started to look at "Drop Shipping" as a viable alternative?

Drop shipping has its risk for the sellers, perticularly in the USA

If I say sell a brand name cellphone on my website and it turns out to be fake, then I lose the customers trust ALL OF THEM and get the stuff returned to me... then I return the stuff to my supplier and he wont want to do buisness with me any more...

thats where the supplier stands.

Some sellers, like me for example, will switch to T/T and such after I see that the the product chain is worthy, there are MANY suppliers out there its not an insult its just a fact and there are many right now starting to accept paypal (the proof lies in front of me as we speak)

Yes there is more risk to the supplier then the seller under certain circumstances.

if you are a supplier and you know the quality of your goods be it bad or good and state it Truthfully then the seller will be able to sell the stuff, Right? also you become trusted and are now trustworthy enough for me to SEND CASH.

Trust is a major factor and to earn trust as a Wholesaler you must

Be honost in your item description and ADD as much detail as posible (chipset-cellphone)

price accordingly!!!

for sellers, Dont get scammed, 10-50% are SCAMMERS!!! be warned, but be as polite as posible and set standards.

Dont think your going to set a trust patern PLAN IT!, yes if a supplier has decided to sell you something via paypal or offer samples OFFER to pay for the samples or atleast shipping, Plan to begin paying cash payments... guys people pay taxes in china to, and remember its CHINA...

Times are changing.. fraud is evident everywhere, sellers... make a plan to accept paypal for the first 3 transactions or for atleast only for sample's. dont get run over by the new guy's, the mascara boxes on my floor prove this to be wirth the listen.

there is an important Key fact here, From my countless encounters with manufacturers here, I can confirm that being polite to me isnt going to get me to buy anything. make all posible arangements to make that CRITICAL first sale!!! Thats the secret!!!.

talk buisness99%, not kissing butt.

When the item comes in... the seller looks it over and dousnt judge it by how authentic it is but by HOW ACCURATLY you described your item!!!.

your ability to speak english dousnt matter... a good company will translate your text no matter the cost.

Yes I fully agree with you, however, honesty is the main problem. To me it doesn't matter if the itemsthe suppliers are trying to sell are fake, as long as that is stated from the outset.

At that point, it is then up to each individual drop shipper to decide if that is the type of item he wants to sell. I do think that China, and in particular Alibaba, need to clean up their act. When the world economy was doing well, though people complained about scams, it seemed that a scam or two could be overlooked.

The way that the world economy is at the moment will lead to more buyers and traders being even more cautious about who they buy from and what they buy, If this scam business is not cleaned up, then the economy of China, and also that of Alibaba will suffer more due to the caution of buyers with less money.

Thats why we need the manufacturers to step up and take over the drop shipping role, that way we could hopefully eliminate most of the would be scammers who are acting as middle men.

At the moment the manufacturers are relying on large orders in the thousands of dollars bracket. they see small one off (sample orders) as not worthwhile, yet if they co operated with the drop shippers, then those sample orders would flourish into many thousands of dollars a week.

I honestly believe they will soon have to be looking at doing this as the world wide major orders are drying up.

Cheers
