We are about to place our first order with a 2nd Year Gold Member with a TrustPass profile company after they sent us samples.  We have conducted searches on Google and here on the forum and have not found anything about them that may be wrong.

The payment form is T/T but the beneficiary at Agricultural Bank of China is NOT the company's name, but rather an individual's name.

What do you think considering they are coming clean as far as scam search is concerned and that they have a TrustPass profile here?

I questioned my supplier and this was their reply to my question about why a personal account as beneficiary of the T/T:

The name "XXXXXX" is the beneficiary, it is a personal account, we usually ask our customer transfer to our personal account, it is fast than to company account.

  Any question, pls feel free to contact me and have a nice holiday

Obviously, that reply is unacceptable.  We replied saying to please understand our situation and that Alibaba has advised buyers not to pay into a personal account for goods.  I also said that our bank will not transfer money from a business account to a personal account.

I hope they give us their business account as even though they have a TrustPass profile and a 2nd Year Gold Supplier stamp - this smells bad.

 

It is very unreasonable if a 2-year-old gold supplier with trust pass don't have its own business account. And a searious business should make every effort to make payment easy, especiall when itself is beneficiary.

I recommand you check the contact information in it's official website, and find wether the guy in charge of the business is a legal member of the company. Things may be the guy is just a representative of the company, and has no legal relationship with the company. He just acts as a middleman. What's worse, the guy may be a scammer , and he is pretending to be your supplier's employee.

Besides, you can go deep into the company's detail information, and know more about the company, which can help make a right decision.

My speculation are:     1, a scammer is  trading with you, and convince you with a real company's information.

                                         2, The company is going to go bankrupt, and the best way to keep money is to receive money through personal account. You know, personal account is different from business account, the former is not responsible for paying for the company's debt

In many postings at this forum you can see that paid members scam importers via personal account transfers. Think twice. Request official company account for transfer.

maybe it is not so bad for this issue,it is depends.sometimes there are a lots of reasons to use the different benificiary's name to deal with the business.For example:your order is too small,the goods should be shipped by express,so,the supplier don't need to apply to custom,if you pay the payment via their company account,the tax department officer will ask them how the payment come in but without sale tax declare?another situation:if they sale this goods doesn't make too much money,and they must pay 17% tax to the government then get drawback from custom (maybe 5%),they will lose money,if you pay the payment to the personal's account,they don't need to pay the tax,they could avoid the tax so that they get more profit.but they are not the liar to gain your payment by cheating.the best way is to know more this company and see them by yourself,meanwhile,a good agent is necessary.which kind of product are you purchasing?if it is possible,i would like to help you.

This is a good question especially for some foreigner buyers in China. Actually in China not every exporting company has the exporting license. If you need to open a company account in foreign currency, you need to have exporting license. So that's why they can not offer company account to you.

DON'T DO IT!

There is a group that have infiltrated "legitimate" China Comapny computers emails, that are also asking for payment re-direction to associate Companies to ship out orders.

If you receive such a letter DON'T SEND YOUR MONEY.

It will apear that the email is coming from your original supplier but it's not! repeat it's not!

Call you supplier on the original phone number that you have to confirm the validity of payment re-direction emails.

These guys have set up offices to take your calls and faxes as well and will keep asking for the TT copy to ship out your goods.

YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!!! THIS IS THE LASTEST CON!

the only way we tracked down their whereabouts is by tracing their IP on the email ... headers.....

Authorities cannot and will not action until the fraud has been committed which by the will be too late for you!

SO far we have tracke 2 Companies that have asked for payment re-direction to Hong Kong Companies... the emails are originating near Shanghai...

The original Chinese Comapnies had no idea that someone had infiltrated theie email even  re=doing their P.I.'s with new payment details!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am glad to say that you are right, Can't send any payment to personal account, especially the difficult time. You shall be very careful on all deals. If they are the golden supplier in alibaba, there must have the company account. And the transfer time will be the same when you transfer the payment to company account and personal account. Hope you will find good supplier in alibaba.

One other comment here, Trustpass on Alibaba is only an indictation, it is no guarantee - scammers are good at what they do and can fool most.  Paying Alibaba to secure better listing guarantees nothing - hope this helps a little . . .

Sadly, I received a very UNACCEPTABLE reply from this supplier - I am quoting:

It seems that it is really a problem for the payment. I'm sorry for giving your company so kind of trouble. And this is also the first time for us to be asked company account.  We are the factory, we become the member of alibaba for two years. Pls see the following picture I cut from our website

They then pasted the 2nd Year Gold Supplier and Trustpass Profile image page from AliBaba (like if I had not seen that yet).

Then she continues:

We always ask our customer transfer payment to our personal account or via western union, this is no need to tax,  so that we always give cheaper price to our customer. If transfer to company account, there will need tax, and the price will be higher.

 Since company's account can't transfer payment to personal account, so would you pls transfer us via western union. 

 She then proceeded to paste a copy of a bank T/T remittance from a customer in the Middle East to them in November of this year showing that the beneficiary is the personal account.

She then concludes with the following message:

So pls kindly believe us and hope we can establish long business relations with each other

I would not like to actually name the company here myself in case they are truly legit - I don't want to hurt them but let's say that they have hundreds of listings on Alibaba when you run a search for "baby shower" - as we are trying to import baby shower favors.

I just don't understand why if they "corner" most of the baby shower market here on Alibaba why they wish to conduct business with us this way.

Much to our regret, we will not be able to proceed with the transaction - it would have been $6,000 USD and we can't risk to take a loss.
