Start our Own Brand
Post 1 of 10

Dear Ones,

We are a Manufacturer company here in Pakistan and now we want to start our own brand name in Underwears.

Can you people help me:

How can we market our product in the market?

Which points we are highliting to earn more sales of our product?

Is this is the right time to enter in the market?

Firstly we are launching MENS VEST in the market locally as well as internationally.

I will appreciate your comments and suggestions.

Thanks

firstly freind i would say, as you know there is a serious decline in  the overall

spending in  the economy, with the current  credidt crunch, however there are

still major commoditys that  people can still not live without, food warmth and

shelter. your item falls into these categories, i live in the uk. and, realise you

you will need good agents incountrys like ours with good price to promote

your goods, they will only sell at the price they are worth, and it is a tough

competitive market, but if you sound to cheap theyv will trodd all over you,

so if you beleive in your product, market it wisely [em17]

Dear Friend!

Its nice that u have set goals to establish a new brand name. Well, the days are bad now, but still i appreciate your daringness and positive thinking![em19]

No popular brand is established over night!..it needs lot of hard work, presence in the market and QUALITY!.

But i am 200% sure that you can create a popular brand even in these hard days...for which u need to put all your hard work...[em11]

Just concentrate on quality & committment...1 satisfied client may be bring 2 more clients ...but 1 un-satisfied may stop many more....so better try to satisfy the client first...rather i would say..the client must be delighted rather than just satisfied!...remeber..the human being  media of advertising is the best!...

No matter what the global situations are now...just get into what u want to do and stick to your goal...

make your policy and determination in such a way..that if the whole world has only 1 client for that particular product...then that client must be your's...

Try to start in a small way at the moment till your product picks some momentum in the market...and then u can plan for larger volumes but not neglecting the QUALITY at any day!..remember...Brand is created by POPULARITY...and POPULARITY comes with QUALITY!

Wish u all the best!..[em1]

You may consider that a brand name in one culture could mean nothing in another culture. I would consider consulting with an experienced marketer of retail products in each of the countries you plan to market your product.

For example: In the USA now there are two significant trends: 1) Marketing simplicity - solid contrasting colors, minimal wording, short but descriptive brand names, example (iPhone, UnderArmor, etc) 2) Better to target multiple audiences with slightly different twists to relatively same product than to target all audiences with one general product. This way you have multiple chances to speak to the customer.

Hi I may be able to advise you on this, as I own a clothing brand/label which is currently being taken to market in the UK. I dont know how this varies if you are building a brand in the US.

The process is very long and very expensive, and 80% of the task is research. You really need to research your customer, your price, your market, your competitors...this is a long and drawn out process and may not be easy to do from outside the country.

When you have your findings, you need to develop a 'customer profile' for example, how old is he? where does he live? who does he live with? what i his job? where does he shop? what is his marital status? where does he holiday? what is his income? etc etc etc. You will then develop a customer profile of your demographic, he may even have a name.

You then need to use this info to create your 'Brand Bible' which includes everything from who you are, what youre business is about, target market, ethics, corporate colours, words associated with your brand, logo....

Then you need to work with a marketing/PR expert and using your Customer Profile and Brand Bible to target the people who are going to be buying your product. This process ensures that you are not spending money on ineffective advertising, you want to be hitting the target the first time, not spend thousands advertising in places your customer will never look - this is why it is so important to know your customer inside out. Visualise him, give him a name, if you see a picture of him in a magazine pull it out and stick it to your mood board..... If you dont know your customer, you wont be able to effectively and persuasively present your product to him.

My best advice is you have to do it thoroughly or not at all. Brands are extremely hard to build, and easily damaged. Once you have launched your brand, if you later decide you dont like part of it, or it doesnt work, it is near impossible to re-launch. Therefore I would advise keeping a low profile about your product whilst you lay the foundations - this takes 6-12 months, maybe more.

I have only skimmed the surface in this post, there are so many other things to do, from getting celebrity endorsement, magazine features, TV airtime, free PR in press releases, a launch party, networking with key individuals.....

Good luck!
