Re: Dealing with Chinese Suppliers
Hello @ all.
I am new on Alibaba and I read before a lot of horror stories about this portal. I bought products from ebay, because I am a "private" person and not a big Company.
I read this article and I am still wondering. Buyers like to pay more and more less. Suppliers earnings going down and down. And buyers are still complaining price, attitude, "Chinglish"???
An old saying says:"...you are getting what you are paying for..." Did that change in all the years going bye?? I don't think so.
If a supplier like to make business, I am sure he will do his best - but he will NOT rip his arm out for the buyer. Nobody would do this. If he can't understand English good enough - sorry, as a buyer a have than to "lower" my English that he can deal with me. Or pay for a translator if you really interested to make a deal. But still the deal MUST serve both sides.
Point to scamming: The new Escrow System is so I think a good way to avoid them. If the product isn't as ordered, he is not getting the money. On Ebay there a some buyers who got a stone in the box - and the money was gone, too. [em12]

I feel sorry for all the honest Chinese sales people who try there best. [em18]

Bye the way. I am a German and yes. I am still learning English and with now 47 years of age, I know that it is easier to change yourself than the world. I had to learn it in Canada.

Best regards

Trust and professional are very important to get the win-win relationship in the end, BUt I think for every supplier at the begining, they are open for all the customers, it is not only based on the money, but also based on the long term cooperation, may be just the diferent person in different business way, and made you feel frustrating! of course!

Good reply, and it seems that you have a good understanding of Chinese culture.

Spoken English may be very important in the business. But it is only a communication method, if both of the parties can understand each other, languange will not be the most important problem. Trust between two parties is the most important in the trading,

We are Chinese suppliers, and we also want a mutual benefits during trading. As buyers, the things most cared are the quality of goods and the price for these goods; while as a supplier( especially manufaturers) of course pay attention to the quality of goods, and the payment for their goods. Payment and delivery and aftersales service need the cooperation between the seller and the buyer.

In my experience, not all of our potential or existingcustomers speak good English. As non-native English speakers, e-mail and message are the two good methods for international tradings. Even with native English speaker, and your oral English is good, there is time difference because of the globle location. In order to telephone a customer, we need to calculate for the time difference, you know.

So language will not be the most important elements during international tradings, it is important because it is a communication method, but I think the most important for trading is trust and to be honest.

the best answer for you !!
