I have been a very experienced trader for about 2 years now. I have very extensive connection with factories in China, espeically Mp3/4 factories, plastic/ toy factories, houseware/ kitchenware, and have friends who work in big companies like Apple, Nokia, Sony, etc...
Ah first it's true that you cannot get game consoles or ipod from ninetendo, apple, etc... directly and it's true that they sell directly only to authorized dealers.
However, it's not true that you cannot buy from these authorized dealers and still have a decent marign out of it.
Many of these authorized dealers are themselves investors and partners of Apple, Microsoft, Nintendo, etc... of which they get products way below what we called "planned price" of the merchandizes. Usually in their business contract to sponsor these big companies and act as a partner or investor, these big companies have to agree to sell them the merchandizes at an agreed price on top of the promised dividend payment or equity.
So if you buy from these people and resell there's a marign. However, having said that most people cannot afford to buy from these people for a simple reason. They usually have a minimum quantity requirement of 500 pcs or 1000pcs. Simply put, if a Nokia N95 is for example $450USD, 500pcs cost $225,000USD!! Not so many people can afford it. So if a buyer purchase 500pcs and then re-distribute them at $550USD/pc with minimum quantity of 100 pcs, you can see that there's a marign on condition that you have channel to distribute them and don't have to sell 500pcs of nokia n95 on ebay!!
But of course, these companies do production run ONLY on letter of credit. They will NOT and NEVER will accept credit card payment or T/T up front. If someone claims they can get merchandize through a connection at these big companies or friend with partners of these companies and requires a T/T up front or credit card payment up front, I will not believe the stocks come from a legitimate source. Also insist on taking goods if and only if they comes with official warranty. New items NEVER ever are released on the market without 1 year manufacturer warranty.
Also, buying copies ipods are illegal and importing them is not a good idea. For quantity bigger than 1000pcs faked ipods and you ship by UPS, more probably then not, the US custom will confistate it. And believe me, it happens a lot more frequent than you think.
But undoubtably importing merchandize from china to north america and europe has it's marign. But it's not risk free. Most chinese exporters in Mainland China (exporters in HK excepted) required 100% T/T up front, so it takes a long time for trial and error before some legitimate good buyer can be found.
Because of that there are many local companies that import items from China and re-distribute in their own country to provide major security and these local companies don't require 100% payment up front. There are also local agent or sourcing companies in China that can be hired to inspect items and do quality control.

Replying to [jaredloo]: I wish I would have come across this forum last month. As much as I hate to admit it, I too have fallen victim to Andrew. I would like to join forces with the other victims to try and recoup some losses. I was thinking about starting my own recovery process, but it seems like some of you have already got the ball rolling. I think we would stand a better chance at some justice if we banded together. Any help, thoughts, suggestions would be great.

Do you know how to get help after being scammed? I got this "Gold supplier" off Alibaba and they stole my life savings, over $12,000. I ordered lots of camera equipment and me and my customers got a pair of socks. Now I have people demanding money back and I am broke. I think Alibaba should help as a mediator since they gave them "Gold supplier" status but they wont help. I was stupod for trusting them but now I have no money, and I have a kid to raise and I am stuck. If I could get equipment I could sell it to make the money to pay back these people, but I have no money to get equipment and have no idea who to trust to get it.

I wouldnt put it past him, knowing he has guns, a million dollar+ house. Something just seems too funny. He hasnt worked a real job in years and has had no success as far as hes told me he has been in trade, so where does he get money for his car that is worth more than all of my families combined?
