Dear Pafoods,
General speaking, in eTrade market, products can be sold in the worldwide, there is no limitation on the "place", "promotion" is also easier than the traditional shop. However, pricing and product are also important and complicated for the owner.
eTrade will help people easy to set up business, but also need the owner to run business more carefully.

Answer Part 1

I am reading your question in this forum and find it very interesting since the most obvious answer to this question as members are posting is yes.

However simple and direct your question is I want to go into it a little deeper.

Etrade will help people?

If you are referring to people, meaning all of us I would counter by a question myself. Will it hurt any of us? We as consumers on one end of the spectrum of this market can only really gain from “Etrade” because it ads to the knowledge that we are able to obtain on any subject, product or issue we are inquiring about. Etrade refers to electronic means of trading, which includes products as well as information. Can you really have to much information? Only if you do not want the information and then you do not really want gather it in the first place. So you would not be using any electronic means in the first place.

Etrade will help business people?

This is a very tricky questions. In general it can help business people or business if they have the right infrastructure and protection in place. Let me give you a real life example with the dangers and benefits.

If you take a new product in today’s world you need to market this product like any other past product. The only difference being that in today’s world we have more mediums to make ourselves or our products known to the world. When a new product like the Slingbox is being introduced into the market, it is always a major event. When the Blackberry is introduced it is a major event. etade and the electronic media helps these products spread around the world without setting up huge distribution networks and thus investing in large amount of products to get the distribution chains filled. It also saves time if you can ship directly to customers and gets you up to speed fasters and as such starts generating cash flow quicker. So in a fundamental point of view etrade is a positive. However the speed and market penetration comes public knowledge and visibility. This has been a major problem in our world today. Copies of products and attention to new products is being raised through etrade and the electronic media. If a company has not secured its rights to a product and is able to enforce those rights then etrade/electronic commerce can harm a company in the early stages of the product lauch during which it must recoup its investment as soon as possible. Copies and poor products can destroy consumer confidence and affect sales and as such put a company in jeopardy. In these cases Etrade/ecommerce can be a serious danger to any company.

Answer Part 2

What is the role of Etrade in an organization?

Etrade in an organization is very important today. It provides many benefits in many different areas?

1. Information Gathering

2. Sales Tool

3. Distribution Tool

4. Support Tool

5. and many other functions

Companies are behind Etrade because companies are using work tools on a daily basis and as such this is just an extension of what is already being used. The cost of expanding into these areas is much smaller and the control over this area of the business is much tighter “in house”. Why set up new offices around the world if you can just expand your home office and still support and supply customers?

With the increase in computer usage your potential customer base automatically increases. Wouldn’t you want to be ready and take advantage of this opportunity? If I had to answer the question about the role of etrade in a business organization in one word I would say it provides customer data instantly. It lets you know what price you can charge, what drawbacks your product has, how your product is accepted in the local market place and as such allows you to focus on the area you want to intensify.

Etrade provides this valuable information and allows you with other tools to complete those transactions for the benefit of the organization as a whole.

I would say E-trade is bad for the middle man, or trading companies, as the role of middle man is changed by the introduction of this technology.

Prior to E-trade, if you know the source of a product and the demand, then you can make money by bringing the product from the manufacturer to the enduser. So the intermediates buy the product in bulk and they are know as wholesaler. But the risk of getting the stocks cleared is climbing higher each day, as the user can search the WWW and find out the original supplier, and buy at a discounted price, minus your commission or markup.

This way, E-trade is bad for some type of business, and retailers have to add value to the product to be relevant to the supply chain. The key word is RELEVANCE.

Business evolved during the last decade and speed up as Online transactions pick up in the 21st century. More of a logistic role to be part of the supply chain management, and some degree of integration and customerising systems such as computer system configurations as to customer's requirement, and collection of payment.
