I notice alot of posters that put up best answer point awards and many never pay out the points , some even after alot of time has passed. Many are posters that have 500 or more points as well who are guilty of not paying out..
Also it seems that alot of posters on all alibaba forums do not contribute a whole lot in original topics or articles. Many just tag along for the ride to accumulate points to get a high point rating by simply answering other topics posted by people with something worthwhile to say or by posting some lame topic that has been covered many times by other posters or to post some incomprehensible posting which means nothing to any one. They still get the points though..
This would require someone from Alibaba to read all the postings and assign point as he/she seems fit - which of course will cause more trouble as some people will surely object to points given or refused.
I guess it is like democracy: its not perfect but as long as nobody comes up with a better solution we just keep it.

it would indeed be very difficult to create a fair point system. Somebody (Alibaba or the moderators) would have to dedicate a lot of time and resources to this subject... but what for? Are these points so important?
I contribute because I'm aware that as an international forum we are an unlikely bunch of friends or colleagues. The fact that this has been achieved makes me happy, and contributing to furthering this achievement makes me even happier. - My points? You can have them (or whoever asks for them).

I totally agree with your statement, but, for those who contributed, I believed that their objective is to share their knowledge and offer HELP & assistant. Rather than going for the points.
For those who offered reward points and did not or do not want to "Pay", it only reflects that their "UN-RELIABLE" which is the most crucial part in the business environment - Creditability! Hence, is up to the individuals if they want to do business with these people.
Many "Lame" posters & topics here are for "Advertising" their services & products if not are for "Fame", in my humble opinion.
Thanks to those who contributed, helped & share their knowledge with the community here in Alibaba. Which I think they will be rewarded someday, somehow.
Therefore, I do not expect to "Get" those points.
Also, I agree with Germex's statement: Quote** I contribute because I'm aware that as an international forum we are an unlikely bunch of friends or colleagues. Replying to [jcsinasian]: I appreciate the fact people are on here to help but your statement "Many "Lame" posters & topics here are for "Advertising" their services & products if not are for "Fame", in my humble opinion." is not relevant to the forums due to deletion by mods of such info. IMHO I would not doubt that many top posters on these forums are now doing it to BE the top ones and ingrained in this billion $$ site. You can only discuss certain topics for so long until they are repeated over and over. The number of repeat posts on this site are huge as you know. Help is an admirable trait but their are underlying motives to ones actions.
Replying to [GoldStar]:I guess you are posting this topic out of fustration, where you see how some member accumulate lots of points by answering with not relevant commnets. But it would be much better if you propose valuable alternatives to the current point system and be part of the solution instead of being a plain critic. However, somehow I felt the same way initially. I came to this forum to share my experiences as an importer, ask questions, expecting some of the members could give the answer I need. But when seeing that my points were growing by 2 points everytime, wanted to do the same lame answers to grow my points much faster. But as Germex said, why bother with the points, that will take you nowhere. However I have noticed that the articles I wrote could be google searched, I have type my company name on google and the search engine will list those topics that I wrote and that is more important to me that points accumulated. That serve as a presentation when giving references to my prospects. They see me as an expert, and that is very rewarding. My message to all of you is simple. If you have expertise on this industry, take the time to share your best practices. If you are new to this industry, post questions, post what you want to do and what options you have considered, and ask for advice if that approach is sound or not. When doing that we all together wil elevate the importance of this forum, and all of us will benefit. I remember my geometry teacher once told me. If you want to be an expert in your field, make sure you share or teach your experiences and knowledge, that will cement what you havwe learned and make you an expert. Vicente Huaman

Replying to [Vicente]:I completely agree with you my dear friend, there is a lot to gain apart from members value points that we should open our eyes to.
