protect your business from those who copy

It is more and more common that you can see your products' picture in other places now. It is really important to add wastermark when uploaded your products.[em4]

Quoting from [US Business Owner]:

Today I opened up a new product alert from ALibaba and was surprised to see a picture of my product linked to another company named TATA Internet LTD.  I went onto their Alibaba profile and saw that they had not only taken pictures from my website, but all of the item writeups as well.   I than went onto their company website and saw the full lineup of my products listed with watermarks on the picures they had copied from my website calling them thir own.  My pictures are copyrighted, but I had not watermarked them through the middle. .just on the bottom..so I was an easy target.

So advice for any other US company with products you have created, don't be as foolish as I was. . watermark all of the pictures on your website.  As far as the product writeups go, I don't think there is a way to stop them from stealing those.

It's very common & serious problem, but difficult to solve.

In regards to your posting. For future reference, before you post your photos, whether you check the watermark selection on the alibaba website or not, use photoshop to imprint your company name with a registered trademark, then pdf and scan before applying as a product photo. The "copiers" may have a harder time or be discouraged to have to try to re-photoshop your pictures to take the name off as it will blur the picture.

As for your product descriptions, there is not much you can do. My advice, as I have seen more than a few foreign companies try to copy and post my descriptions for similar commodities; I use words which they most likely do not know and am very detailed in description of the prodcut and in most cases, the procedure.

Makes it hard for them to copy and paste. You have to understand that most users of the alibaba website have poor grammar and writing skills. they won't copy and paste fully if they don't understand the word or grammatical usage.

Best of luck for the future.

HELLO FRIEND, WELCOME TO THE CLUB OF [em6]

i had the same problem, all of my website photos were taken and put on theirs and sell, 100%, luckily i was able to complain to alibaba with original photos from my side and was able to remove them all...

but within the month time, they were back all again with different name, so, there is not much we can do about it...

the best way is watermark it, before you put anything on it, like we do now.THANKS! TAKE CARE!

Thank You for your advice.  I was able to get Alibaba to pull the pictures down also, but your nte reminds me that I need to keep checking to be sure that they don't come back.  The only thing left for me to do now is to get the picutures off of the companies website.  SInce they took both photos and tex, I am afraid this duplicate content is hurting my web rankings.  I went from  5  and 3 PR Ratings to 2's and zeros.

Good Luck with your business.  Thank You again for your advice.

Best Regards,

Carolyn

Protect? not likely. I design New products and working prototypes. I deal with many overseas companies. Even a patent does very little anymore. I have listened to factory owners brag how they change 1 tiny element of a design to avoid infringment. In fact, on 1occassion I was asked to redesign a product. When completed, it was rejected because it was not the same as thier competitor. I found it safest to show your NEW product to old customers onlyfor the first year. True, this will limit your customer base, but it will buy you some time to sell at top dollar BEFORE it is noticed as a good seller by those who must copy rather than develope.

china tea

China is a country with a time-honored civilization and a land of ceremony and decorum. Whenever guests visit, it is necessary to make and serve tea to them. Before serving tea, you may ask them for their preferences as to what kind of tea they fancy and serve them the tea in the most appropriate teacups. In the course of serving tea, the host should take careful note of how much water is remaining in the cups and in the kettle. Usually, if the tea is made in a teacup, boiling water should be added after half of the cup has been consumed; and thus the cup is kept filled so that the tea retains the same bouquet and remains pleasantly warm throughout the entire course of tea-drinking. Snacks, sweets and other dishes may be served at tea time to complement the fragrance of the tea and to allay one's hunger.
