Simple. Do not buy anything from an agent. If you care to verify your partner it will turn out what kind of business they are.

Start communication before dealing with him/her and after long or even soon you will able to find out what is his position from his communication style.

For your information  good owners also depend on commision agents for searching buyers as well as buyers.[em15]

Why do you want to avoid the agent? they were the one who found the manufacture for you.

Without agents international trade wouldnt work

Are you just got one contact for your product?if not, Are all the price going to be same?

To verify the agents. You can first go to his/her website if they had one.I think the price agent gave you is much higher than that manufacture give you.

The agent is just like an eyes on the factory, and know the factory local better than you.

If anything happened, your loss would be much higher than paying to the agent.

Besides the cost, your business would be effected too.

You don't. you either source a supplier direct yourself or you deal with the agent in honesty and fairness. One, you must avoid dishonorable ways of doing business in an environment of instant communication. Two; knowing circumvention of an agent has legal aspects that open you up to litigation. Is it easy to evade, sure. Is it better to stay in ethical and legal compliance, yes.

It is simple, you either independently source a supplier (not difficult to those who know how, it can be done in minutes) or you work with this agent.

If the agent is an * you either drop the transaction and move on,

OR you agree to protect the agent's interests in turn for a small commission, AS LONG AS you are allowed to deal directly with the supplier, in this way you force the agent to "step back" to YOU.

You do not use NCND or MFPa documents, such documents are utter rubbish and only confused brokers use them. They have no bearing whatsoever in recognized legitimate international trade application.

You use a standard agency agreement, modified for your purposes, and sharply dictate the terms; the agent 'steps back" and exposes his client to you, you "bounce" communications through your agent and carbon copy everyone so there is disclosure. You issue a private guarantee of sorts stipulating the commission rate AS A PERCENTAGE of the net or gross, not as a set dollar rate, payable when the deal closes and payment is tendered to your supplier. The actual payment instrument is a privately issued letter of credit tied to your account, or a wire transfer per instructions to the bank provided on the guarantee on its presentation.

They must sign the proper documents, then disclose their supplier, and facilitate the transaction - then things move professionally.

This deal has a 50% success probability as long as the agent does represent a REAL supplier, and does not frusterate the deal and facilitates everything moving smoothly.

You preserve your integrity and your reputation by performing for the agent, your agent provides you with valuable goods and services you needed, the supplier moves product, everyone is happy and if all goes well and all parties have some foresight the process can be repeated.

Business is too important to risk your reputation. Word spreads, for example the firm I represent - FTN maintains a blacklist of dishonorable buyers suppliers and agents. This blacklist is accessible by many people in Europe, Asia, Australia, and the Americas.

Also a sourcing agent can be very useful to you in future transactions, only a fool "burns" a valuable contact - and human beings can be very valuable.

Such people provide a service. If you are an end buyer then why can't you source a supplier directly in the way that the agent did? The same steps an independent agent would FTN Exporting's manual on trading, "FYBR: Step by Step" shows clearly how end buyers, agents, or end suppliers alike, can all source goods, and the proper procedures to close them.

It is difficult, but not that difficult, to do due diligence and find a supplier. When and where an agent assists this process she is to be commended, when and where an agent obstructs this process, she is to be condemned.

why should you avoid the hard working agents who will bring the buyers to you !!

you cannot do everything yourselves, can you ?

it´s better to have some agents selling for you at comm. basis.
