How secure is T/T payment to a buyer?
Post 42 of 233

Hi,

I read your comment, I do L/c payment and to trust each other there only use L/C.

Sample also important from sampling, pre production before mass productionand sample before all shipment.

In my case, L/C all bank charge will paid by aplicant and I don't spent any money

Best regards,

Hi guys.  These days I have been searching serious sellers over the net. Sadly, there are half of them ask me to use Western Union. (Yes, scammers) There are other 50% only accept using T/T payment. I am just curious why sellers do not accept  L/C or escrow? Are they all scammers? Is it really secure to use T/T payment to pay  some one oversea?

Thank  you very much. =) Wish this post can help other buyers too. =)

Hi !

Recently, I found couple of buyers from the UK.  Both of them requested for USD2500 to be via to them through Western Union.  They will deliver the stock to me and once received the stock I pay their courier company which is Fedex.  Is there such thing.  Does Fedex deliver the goods and collect payment on behalf of seller.

Another one agree to deliver me sample goods value at usd 750/- via western union.  they will deliver the goods through FEDEX.  What do you think??

Pls help.  I need some opinion.  Thank you all

I think T/T and L/C are good payment way. West Union is also ok. but it cost a lot on additional fee.  There are many fraud on website, they will send you a fax copy of T/T and then ask you to send goods immediately. In fact, you never receive any money from them. So many sellers only prepare or send goods after receiving payment.

I think the deposite is also good.  The buyer can pay *% deposite and then pay the balance before shippment.

Of course for large amount, L/C is best. But samll order, it costs too much for bank fee and takes a long time.

The buyers can also check the facticity from the seller's bank ,website, phone.

GUYS PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THIS!!!

I have been trading and importing on alibaba for last 6 years!!!

1. with all due respect to all honest people firstly trading is not going to store and buying pair of shoes and honestly you shouldn't get invalved in something that you don't know or have slightest clue about it!!!

2. LC is a safest way of trading??? no it's not LC at sight for example does not guarantee that you will receive what you have ordered/specifyed in the LC by the underwriter from the bank or issuing authority it only guarantees that you will receive the goods but what and how condition they will be its a different ballgame alltogether..........

3. how the * do you expect some small exporter or small factory to accept the LC for some small Qty. order??? it will cost them more money to collect the paymeny and clear the LC since most of the small companies use exporting agencies in china so go figure why they won't accept the LC???

4. escrow, unfortunatelly many westerners have used and abused the beauty of fair and honest trade by using tools such as escrow etc... what is the guarantee that you won't refuse the payment based on blah blah this and that???

Does any of you new comers big shots trader wannabees know that $300 USD in china is great deal of money for small trader/manufacturer??? so go figure if someone orders $1000 plus worth of samples or "big qty. on the way" purchases and it never ever comes back???

5. my advise to all of you trying to sc a buck, get a freebie, big business on the way....... etc... please at least take some business cl at least or try to learn some basic rules and regulations in international trading or just give it up and pay for them thing $100 bucks more at your local store but at least have some respect for hard working professionals that are strugling nowdays cuz of all this "big orders n the near future" or "we need to evaluate samples first" is just making our life misery and difficult to conduct business!!!

It is really a shame, my dad always used to tell me: son never do your oil change take it to a jiffi lube there are people that do that for a living why do you wanna waste entire day on a stupid oil change they can doit for you in a 15 min. you will be more productive by doing what you are good at instead of trying to save $19.95 and wasting a whole day!!!

Once again I apologize if this might have sounded harsh or rude but that's the way it has been for last 100+ or whatever years since people have invented trading.

so if you don't know what you doing than don't doit!!! plain and simple!!!!

and another thing, I have never heard of someone cheating someone out few bucks if they are legitimate company in china!!!

chinese people are pretty fair and honest people when it comes down to business, all I can say it's that there have been millions of happy dollars traded betveen me and chinese supplyers/manufacturers and all I can say it's 110% satisfaction!!!

good luck to all of you!

Best regards,

Damir

You can check with Fedex company to see if they can send goods by freight collect. If they confirm they can , maybe your buyer is true.

As far as I know, some courier companies can accept freight collect but some can not. I don't know Fedex can do it or not.

we always accept both of T/T and L/C.but we prefer T/T becasue it more simple and safe for us.we always commnicate with the buyers for mang things to trust us.such as website.bank information.sending the catalog by DHL.and many other information.so the buyers always prefer T/T too when they know we are a real seller.

T/T payments is safe ,but account name,  must be the same like name of company. Please do not accept T/T payment to personality  account. J saw many scammers who use T/T payment (mobile phones sellers).

L/C  it is safe kind of payment but only for exporter ( pay for documents). The most safe kind of payment is T/T on business account  ( with TRUST and GOLD SUPPLIER). If You wont to do business with FREE SELLER, so please send your order by AirMail for his address. If address is correct, so you have the same effect like TRUST SUPPLIER. So your risk is smaller.

Thanks Tomasz

We often use T/T, It is good, our practice is like that: buyers T/T 30% of the total invoice value in advance, when we shipped the goods and got the B/L, we will fax the B/L to buyer, buyer then T/T the balance to us, we send the original B/L via Fedex.

But I heard in some country buyers can get the goods with the copy of B/L, it is risky.

Also maybe there are scamers who will eat the 30%, But I think most serious Chinese suppliers won't do that, anyway, this method is based on trust.
