T/T offers the worst security for the buyer.  Escrow is better, but never use the one "preferred" by the seller.  It should be mutually agreed upon.  L/C can offer some securtiy as well.  Never use T/T, you're talking all the risk as a buyer.

..... this depends ..... from my experience since year 2000, I only use TT to order goods

from this similar dealer - a reliable, honest, speedy and considerate cyber trader ;

I re-order every month, and never worry about scam or being cheated.

What if the buyer ask to use T/T? This type of transaction scares me as a small business owner. I dont trust giving out my banking information to anyone.

This is why I choose a payment gateway such as paypal or greenzap or bidpay for money orders.  Lately the scammers are trying to use moneygram.

What makes a person think that someone will send products with out payment?

There are so many scammers now it is hard to discern who is real and who is not.

Do I trust a buyer who wants to use T/ T?

Some markets represent more risks than others (Nigeria, Indonesia VS USA, Canada, France...).

If you don't want to spend some bucks to verify the seller's credibility, here's 3 tips :

Deal with Trustpass members: Those sellers are certified and have been verified, so if you have a problem, you will be able to contact them.

Check if the address/phone number coordonate with seller's information : Use reverse lookup on Internet ( like yellowpages'  websites, 411's websites) If it matches, you know that you'll always be able to reach someone, by mail or by phone. Do a research on this company over the Web to get more and more information.

Use your ambassy in the seller's country. Those are paid by your taxes, have a try!!! They know the seller's market better than you, they can even contact the seller to evaluate if he represent a bonafide company.

I was about to transfer money to buy some jetskies when I got doubts about the seller. I contact the ambassy and they found no records about his company, he was using a cell phone, his address was wrong... they make me save a lot of money.

Dear Friends,

I am not  in favour of TT payment .

Reason being I have tasted it after trusting a seller of USA . The result being loss of 1500 USD. As no goods sent after receiving  TT payment. I firmly favour LC mode of payment as this is safe for both buyer & seller.

Lets have a fairplay .....................................................

Hi guys.  These days I have been searching serious sellers over the net. Sadly, there are half of them ask me to use Western Union. (Yes, scammers) There are other 50% only accept using T/T payment. I am just curious why sellers do not accept  L/C or escrow? Are they all scammers? Is it really secure to use T/T payment to pay  some one oversea?

Thank  you very much. =) Wish this post can help other buyers too. =)

watch out those those escrow fake sites...legelly speaking there's only 4 Legit Escrow sites on the entire www . never ever trust a site with (-) or .org or .net if u'd like to know the 4 legit escrow sites just go on google search and do ur homework. As for me www.escrow.com which recommend for U.S and U.K traders is the best option

The better method is to use *,  documents against payment. All steps of transactions are managed by the bank, and the fee is small.

Hello,

I need some help to advice, what should to do, please help!!!

I have found by alibaba a seller, whose is based in UK and I am still checking, whether the phone, fax-no and address is right or not. Anyway, he prefered, that the shipping/payment will be made using  by "aplus-transport.com". Does anyone know this kind of shipping/payment transaction? Is it 100 % safe?

Here comes how we are going to do :

1. Seller will ship the products  with : aplus-transport.com.

2. They will contact me and let me know that  I sent you the products and the

status of the products .

3.I will transfer the money to aplus-transport.com.

4.I will receive the products and check them , test them etc.

5. I have 5 days to inspect the goods. I  must confirm to aplus-transport.com

that the products are as I expected to be so seller can receive my money from them.

If I am not satisfied of the products he sent , they will come , pick up the

products and give all my money back. Seller will have to pay again the shipping

taxes to receive the products back .

Do anybody know and had good experience with aplus-transport.com? Is this way better than escrow??

Thanks for your help in advanced.

Helen

Hello All

Perhaps it is better to try and find a local agent or perhaps they have a local chamber of commerce etc. If you could deal with a local it may prevent fraud. Maybe alibaba can think about setting up some sort of protection.

Letter of Credit and documents against payment are fairly expensive and require set up at bank beyond terms of usual lines of credit.

Over many years of buying in Asia and selling in Europe and Japan we find credit card and T/T to be the most effective methods for shipments up to USD5000.00. Some trust is required but some trust can be obtained by checking company history as suggested in this thread. Visiting potential vendors at their factory, showroom or tradeshow can give you an idea of their reliability.
