I can imagine that a large and well-capitalized Chinese company gives 60 days credit to a client which has credit insurance (with Coface, for example) and has been a partner for a very long time with very good personal contacts. However I think this is rather an exception than a rule. The majority of Chinese companies will need the usual 30% downpayment to buy the raw material for the production of the order and you must have a very good contact to them if they are willing to give you a credit for almost 4 months altogether (if you consider the delivery and shipping times as well).

We a letter of credit payable at 69 day sight would extend the  payment without the Chinese seller taking any risk.

Yes that is true, but the question was about giving a credit to the customer. L/C is, strictly speaking, something different (or I think so).

yes, it is right.-

Some chineese supplier are offering paymen terms based in 60 days from B/L date.-

This means some problems of overstock in view of he actual worldwide bad situation.-

T/T 60days  payment is normal in china, but it's for product without tooling, for example,if your product need to open one tooling, the vendors will ask you to give 40%(or 30%) prepayment,

if you have good enough credit or you have cooperated for a long time,All they would like to accept your 60days payment item,in fact, what they care is whether they can received capital on time.

I 've ever work for different companies as sales and sourcing, being a sales,I will be afraid that some new customers will not have any order after getting the samples, maybe they just want to test, at this moment,we need 40% prement to buy the steel for  this tooling.Being a sourcing, some sales told me that they accepted 90days as long as we can pay on time.

maybe What I write is not 100% right, but this is my experiences, and I hope I could help you.

User Qamar from Pakistan recently wrote that:

>My customers tell me that their suppliers from China are giving them 60 days

>to pay after goods reach US or EU ports.

Is this true??

Do the Chinese rely on similar credit checks as the US or EU in order to provide credit for customers?

Are they more willing to give credit (at least on the major part of the invoice) than they have in the past.

In the past I felt it was almost impossible to get credit even by paying a small % per month of credit...

It is mutual agreement between importer and supplier.

Supplier offer this payment, he must have his reason.

Anyway, think from both sides is correct, should say not many supplier can offer that.
