I have relatively better English skill comparing with my colleague ,but the result ,the revenue I've made last year is the bottom of all sales people in my factory

I try to work hard and learn from my colleague ,even my boss , but the result seems not fine enough .

I have made USD 10 thousand  last year , selling a bunch of home supplies like vacuum flasks ,but my worst colleague has also made over USD 15 thousand

So ,why ? No sense of selling ? I feel like a disappointed doll .

How well do you know your products? To be a top salesman, the product knowledge is one of the important key to be successful.

Speak good English did help. But knowing the details of each products will do a lot more better than just translate.

I personally think that your english is not so good .

one guy understanding a language means he can use it to dream.

once you find you are dreaming in english , you succeed.

Hi, glad to see your interesting topic like that.Yes, good English does not mean for good result.Let 's make it simple, just like some one has (he bought) an airplane,it seems that he has very good way of in transport.but he don't know how to drive it.So what he is going to do : 1, pay someone to drive him ,2 learn how to drive.

So I advise that you keep well for your "plane".Learn how to drive well to get more "passengers"--clients.

i need to ask you 2 questions be4 i can or probably  can give you any constructive suggestions;

First , Is your English really good? we can measure that by asking you how many English-speaking ppl you have talked to(either in voice or in text message),how many English-speaking friends you have or how many English-speaking enemies you have.

Second but not the least , where do most of your company's customers come from ?If most of them are not from US, UK or Uganda, good or bad English makes absolutely no difference to them.

Sam did not say he speaks perfect English. He said he is relatively better than his colleagues, just the sales result is in the other end. Remind him where he should focus on is much more constructive than telling him - You do not speak good English.

Sounds like a lack of sales skill rather than a lack of English try reading

Tom Hopkins book "How to Master the Art of selling"

It is a good starter for sales techniques and processes should not cost more than about ten dollars or get it from a library if you can. Alternatively get your boss to buy it for the company.

Good sales people hone their people skills.
Good luck

What I want to say is " FORTUNE". I think it's very important to a business man. Of course its on the bases of good English and skill.

Good English capability does not meas good communication and product promotion capabiilty. Since you know the communication skill not only depends on your english pronounication and flunence, also your your thinking ways. This thinking ways is under the kneath of sales skill and your attitude towards life. Business way is also shows your attitude in your life, such as your personality, optimism etc.

Firstly, english is important,It does help a lot with good english..But trade is something more about communication and negotiation.I am working in a Shipping Forwarder Company ,and the oversea depart.I found good english is really a tool more than an outstanding advantages. It's the skill to use it that makes those  advantages.

And I am a fish as well
