Hey guys, I am a new in trading area. I want to ask you guys a question. Since quoting FOB price is easy, but how do I quote CIF price quickly? Is there a tool or reference website available? Especially to some port where is very small or not commonly seen. Thanks in advance!

Replying to [GQTshanghai]:Contact freight forwarders to get some quotations for transport.
CIF = Cost+Insurance + Freight

Since it is easy for you to quote on FOB basis, you have to add the freigth cost and the insurance fee on your FOB price.. The grand total of your FOB price,Freight,and Insurance fee will make your CIF price..

Not so difficult..

You need to know the cost of the product, shipping cost and insurance, but will depend on the order from the client, 20ft, 40ft, 40ft HQ?
As we know the price for a 20ft would be lower than a 40ft HQ but the later is better value for sending more products.

If you base the cost on the 20ft and the client wants 40ft HQ container they would be paying more per unit.

A product that has a CIF price for $75 based on 20ft order, can have a price of $72 for a 40ft HQ order, just means the clients pays $1000 or more extra. [em20]

As u know that CIF means Cost  Insurance and Freight .Now u have one letter of those or one item of those it is the letter C or Cost .U can phone an insurance company and ask them about the amount of insurance that should be paid for your items whether it were one or 2 containers for instance.Now u have two letters that r C and I or cost and insurance .at last,phone a shipping company and ask them about their prices of one or two containers of a certain item to a certain destination for example from China to Egypt.now u have the three letters or three abbreviations that are CIF.at last u can add some amount if u r going to transport the goods from factory to port by trucks for instance.sometimes ,the shipping company send the container to the factory and the container is packed immediately.U have to work our all additional fees and at last give your final price.good luck

Just Ask your agent about the shipment details location & total expenses for the shipment then divide that amount in the per unit & you will Get the CIF ( Clearing + Insurance + Freight) Price.
