Gold Supplier status simply means that a seller has paid for membership. It does not mean that they are any better than a free member.

So for all of the suppliers that pay for Gold Supplier status in the hope that it will give you a competitive edge you best contact alibaba sales and ask why a scammer can get the same status as you on this website!

Ali baba have three type of main member ship

  •  gold supplier
  • trust pass
  • free member

gold- supplier is the most relible member of alibaba  they pay the fee each year to extend their membership ohter wise it will expire

buyer most relay on gold supplier as comapre to trust pass or free member it you want to get gold membership you can contact sales dept of alibaba

other b2b portal have also offering thepaid membership like www.tradekey.com

Sorry but the above reply is misleading.

Theoretically a Gold Supplier should be a better supplier than a Free Member but that is just not true.

At Alibaba anyone can become a Gold Supplier if they pay membership. Scammers now freely pay for Gold Supplier status here as they get that money back by scamming more people with the help of the Gold Supplier logo that Alibaba gives them.

So the whole system needs overhauling. The fact that alibaba gives these scammers Gold Supplier status which they then use to suggest that they are a legit company so that more buyers will send them money really undermines the whole system. I would be very unhappy about this situation if I were a legit company that had paid a lot of money to Alibaba for this status only to realize that it means nothing.

You cannot trust a Gold Supplier at Alibaba any more than you can trust a free member. You need to verify all suppliers equally.

Your last advice is quite correct, but why do you say that so angrily? Doesn't common sense demand that you do your DUE DILIGENCE? Any REAL business person will do that everytime he meets somebody new. That's why it won't really bother him at all if even 90% of all advertisers on Alibaba and similar sites were scammers. They won't get him anyway because he knows how to do business. Hint, hint...

The percentage of scammers depends almost exclusively on what you are looking for.

For example, if you are looking for something serious like a lathe for a mechanic shop, it's very unlikely that you'll deal with scammers.

On the other hand, if you are looking for fake Nikes or fake cell phones, then by definition you'll be dealing with scammers. Guess the consequences!
