3 months for trial, could i pass?

Dear Sir/ Madam,

 

My company is manufacture, trading and designing, specialize in wooden furniture. I am Vietnamese. I just start my job under sale man position. My boss give me 3 months for trial. Unfortunately, It is 2 month pass away. I can not find any new customer. My english is very well. Furthermore, i can speak Chinese fluently. I well know our product, our product is very pretty with competitive price.  But, I don’t know why I cannot find out new customer now. Maybe i haven’t got experience in this field…My boss scarcely give me more opportunity to looking for the partner in Russian whom import wooden furniture. I really don’t want to lost this opportunity which he given. Please tell me what can I do to meet his request. I have 1 month trial only. If I can not meet his request. I will be lost my job. Please help me! I shall be much obliged to anyone for answer my question and wish to receive your warmest advice! Awaiting for you

my experience is that Russians do not often speak English, and if yes not well. Perhaps this is the problem. With English, you should look for buyers in other countries. I know in Germany a lot of Asian wooden furniture is sold, especially at big market chains but also at smaller dealers. Germans usually speak English very well. If you want Russians find somebody who translates your quotation (in Vietnam there must be a lot of Russian speakers). If your prices are good you can even sell to Chinese.


Also it may be that your quotations are not complete. It is not enough to tell the price, you must give as much information as possible (package units, weight, material, size, FOB/CIF quotation etc.).

Hi, I totally understand your situation, because I have ever had such a probation period. 

I have been working in the field of ladies' knitted underwear for around 2 years, and I dare not say that I understand my products very well, because everything is changing very rapidly, and we have to learn something new to catch up the speed of changing.

So you have been working for 2 months, and you said you know your products very well, I am quite doubt about that. But things will get better. Three months is really a short time, our company gave us 6 months as a probation period. When I just enter into the society, I was a merchandiser and I didn't need to search customers, so that I can learn my products very carefully.

My message may not be helpful, but just share my experince, wish you good luck.

I'm not sure that 1 month left will be enough time to find the new client. You just have to work hard,give your boss the firm conviction that you can find many clients in future.  then you boss will know, if she or he replaced your position by someone else, they probably not do better than you. It's common for the new comer not able to develop the new clients in the first 2 month

If you really hv the potential ability on your work,and your boss is also a far-sighted person, you will not lose your job, eventhough you did not find a customer in the trial period first 2-3 monthes.  Good luck !

The new employees in China has the same situation with you ,which the boss give their three months probation period.Three months is not very short and  not very long which is just modest.

As you have said you have many advantages: good products, compatitive price and your english is very good, which are most of buyers looking for. Under so good condation, you acturally cannot find a customer which seems impossible.

Did you make advertisement for your products?How do you find the customers?Do you have a sales platform? If you want to sell your compatitive good products, you have to try your best to  let your customers know the advantage of your plroducts.If I am a buyer, I will buy from you as you have so qualified products with cheap price.[em7]

As you just enter into this field, maybe you takes two months to know your products.So maybe you can find some customers in the next month.Don't just worry about the future things, just try your best to do your work well. As we all know all of bosses like harding working and carefull staffs, believe your boss is not the exception.

Of course buyers are concerned with low costs, but they also want good quality, product safety, and reasonable lead time.  Also they also want someone who will stand behind their product if there is a problem. 
 
Consider telling the buyers that your company has an excellent reputation for quality, safety, and quick delivery.  Why take your chance with other suppliers, who do not have a strong reputation in these areas?  
 
Help them see the benefit of doing business with your company.
