Alibaba is simply a web portal that enables buyers and sellers to find each other.

You need to make sure that you can legally import the products you buy from sellers. And you need to verify that a seller is legit before you send them money for product.

You can  find buyer and seller here and chat with them. If you want to show your produxts to buyers, you can post your products' pics and detail information on alibaba. If you want buy something and look for supplier, you also can post the things you need and supplier will send u their offer.  Or you can search the products you need and ask them to send u offer.

Also you can learn lots of thing from the community.

I am also new to trading with China & Alibaba. Like any business, one needs to check out credentials & a good starting point is to ask suppliers whether they would supply the following information, as reccommended by the China Britain Business Council:

Below is a list of documents that you could ask the Chinese party to provide in advance of proceeding with any contracts. These documents can then be checked out by a third party on the ground in China to check authenticity:

- a copy of their business licence;

- a copy of their shareholder registration;

- a copy of both sides of their business card (i.e. English and Chinese);

- their web site address;

- their email addresses;

- their operational address;

- their registered address;

- Chinese ID and/or passport numbers;

- copy of the ID and/or passport of the responsible person (most likely the company's "Legal Representative");

- the company's operational address and number.

We strongly advise that should you decide to proceed further, you conduct proper independent due diligence with someone who specialises in working with China.

They also provided me with two firms which are available through your local branch of your local country's trade partner or CBBC for UK traders.

Interestingly, when suggesting that this information would be required before financial transaction was made, all manufacturers that I had been dealing with ceased interest in trading. I suspect that this process is best handled by a third party broker/agent which I am currently sourcing. If anyone has any experience or views on this process, I would be grateful to hear from you.

Good luck all!

Hi! I am new also! I just entered the Alibaba site last night. The whole site made me have great expectations for my job. Today I found the community and I'm reading all morning for people who got in fraud and scammed. Now, I am very cautious! I entered Alibaba as a seller and after all these people I've read their bad experiences makes me feel really bad. I honestly think of leaving the site. Still don't know...

Hi! I think there is nothing wrong of the Alibaba, like the gun,you can use it protect yourself and your family or kill some guys. so business is just business, you can learn more things about the business in this place. for me , the most important and basic thing is acquant with the products you want to involved in and the relevant market. may you have a successful business.[em3]
