I am looking for some field that still retained the high profits in the financial crisis , shall we discuss something about this ?  or just give me the advice.

Where to invest ?

How is the ROI ? ( like  how much you can get for every 1 dollar you put in )

And something more detailed to take action....

Thanks all...

I think the two new big markets will be:

1. Alternative fuels and energy - bioethanol conversion kits for cars and vehicles, generators running on bioethanol or biodiesel, trucks , buses, military vehicles etc., bioethanol raw material (plants), bioethanol and biodiesel processing equipment. The good point in this is that these technologies have been around for more than 30 years, and these are low-tech solutions. Other alternative energy-related fields will also grow (like alternative heating/air conditioning, solar technology etc). Especially now as the oil lobby lost positions in the US.

2. Water - water processing, cleaning, treatment, sweetwater production, waste water recycling. Population on earth is growing, while the amount of sweetwater remains constant. You may not know but the biggest factor in this is the water consumption of domestic food animals. Here, there is a big chance for microbiology and biotechnology, chemistry and nano-technology which are booming industries nowadays.

This would be worth of a serious discussion in this forum.

I'm all for it! You want to take the lead with a subject?

Well at the moment I am concerned with how an efficient system of bioethanol distribution and processing could be established. Now, bioethanol has been efficiently used as a fuel in Brazil since the 1970s. Basically you could produce bioethanol from everything that contains cellulose, even from scrap paper or any agricultural waste. Securing the raw material for the bioethanol production is quite work intensive which could give jobs to millions of uneducated people exactly in those countries which suffer most from high energy prices.

The dramatic increase of food prices this year has been partly attributed to bioethanol production (which is a mistake at best, if not a lie) since producing bioethanol from food crops is far from obligatory - if I may note I find speculation with food prices is perhaps the most disgusting feature of today's global investment schemes.

I hope I could spark some ideas...

Well, I agree with you regarding the bioethanol, though ist distribution worldwide as a substitute for gas is a subject that goes beyond the expertise of most traders.

I had hoped you would start a more technical topic, like other options for fuel and their conversion into mechanic energy, but on second thought, also that is most likely beyond the scope of most of us.

Now, where do I find funding and a lab to develop my own ideas? (I'm not kidding)

I don't know how to invest. But I think no high profit industry can comparatively stand out in this financial crisis.
