After reporting my gold supplier scammer to Alibaba, I was replied as follows:

[em5]Dear Ms. XXXXXX,

Thanks for your email.

The forum is designed as a portal for traders to discuss trade related
information. However, you're not allowed to openly accuse other members of fraudulent activities, unless you've proven these accusations in a court of law or via a relevant legal authority.

You may report this matter to your local police or the relative law
authority. Should you desire Alibaba.com to cooperate in a police
investigation, provide us with the following information:

- Your full legal name, residential address and country of issuance of
passport and passport number;
- Case reference no. and the name of the police or other law
enforcement unit where the case was reported;
- Amount of alleged monetary damages.

After you have reported the alleged fraud to the appropriate law
enforcement authorities, we will forward case information to them upon their request.

If you are able to prove in court that the supplier engaged in fraud,
we will suspend or terminate the supplier's account.

If you have any further questions, please contact me. We will offer
the appropriate assistance in this matter.

Have a nice day!

Best regards,
Connie

Does anyone else find this a bit hard to swallow? How does one person in one country take to court a scammer from another, especially China? I cant believe I even got a reply like this? I feel that Alibaba should be more responsible in helping to prevent fraud. Whats the point of giving companies GOLD SUPPLIER status and then not taking responsibility for doing so. As a buyer I trusted alibaba and their verification prcedures only to be dissapointed and told to TAKE THE SCAMMER TO COURT. A kick in the leg by the scammer and a kick in the head by Alibaba - Gee thanks

Replying to [jacquiez]:
The thing is this, if you were scammed for a large amount of money you of course would want to report it to some agency.

After it's documented then they said they would help in investigating. You act like if someone breaks into your home the police replace the money or something. It still takes the same process for recovering and legally punishing people.
