Does standard give us benefit?
Post 1 of 7

Dear all.

Our company, AIGO KOGYO CO., LTD. , has been supplying hand tools since 1928. We have got the new JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) in September 2008.

As far as I know, less company is qualified as the new JIS company in hand tools industry. I think the standard is a kind of evidence of quality of products but I wonder if it will bring us benefit or not.

Is a qualified company more attractive and easy to find buyers? Or will buyers get benefit by the standard like the new JIS, ISO, etc?

Could you tell me your opinion?

Thank you.

Standards matter, and standards tell your users that your company has taken the time and money to ensure the tools are safe, well-made and can compete with other tools of the same criteria.  For me, I use a lot of specialized tools in the aftermarket niche of automotive performance, and it is imperative that the tools meet a standard of quality because I cannot afford to get hurt or have one of my staff get hurt.  There are a lot of cheaper options out there, but I have learned that one gets what they pay for.  One cannot get 10,000 yen benefit from an investment of 10 yen, meaning don't expect to get the same amount of work safely done with inferior non-standard tools.  You should use this as part of your marketing strategy- differentiate your tools from the others.  Many of tools I noticed in Japan, especially at the home centers, do not meet a standard and are made in China and sold based on price.  Differentiate your compnay and your tools.  Yoroshiku!

Customers will be more impressed if you show them your standard. They'll feel that they're doing business with qualified and professional partner. To make yourself in good position, always show others your best.

It will give you an advantage if you LABAL your product with this standard and provide a link in small gold font where people can read on what the standard means..

Trust me that will get you a ton of attention if you make it look like the focus of your advertisement stratagy, setting you one bar above the rest.

just get your sales team up to date.. and special requests should go directly to you for aproval disaproval.. dont wast your time.
