If a customer wants to place an order he/she will.

Have you followed up to make sure that they received the information you sent them?

Probably your would-be-buyer is only some private person who wanted something from you at factory price. No serious company would pay by credit card. Make him clear that you accept only T/T, if he really wants it.

I agree with Gabor.

Any customer that asks to pay by Paypal or Credit Card is most likely a newcomer to foreign trade and will most likely try to buy in small quantities. These payment terms are the terms of choice for ebayers and such.

So if you are a wholesaler and happy to ship in small shipments etc then no problems, but if you are hoping to get larger sized orders from this type of customer then I am pretty sure you wont get that.

TT and LC are the standard payment terms and as a buyer I respect the fact that manufacturers and trading companies in China will prefer the established methods of payment over alternatives.

As far as security payment by credit card is safe for the buyer in most cases as they can make a claim if your product does not arrive or is different than described and get a 'charge back'. This is why your buyer no doubt wants to use credit card as it gives him or her some protection that TT doesnt. But this protection can sometimes be used against you too if the customer makes false claims to their bank and you are unable to prove otherwise. Sometimes Paypal and credit card companies can be biased toward protecting the buyers.

I THINK IT IS FAIR TO SAY THAT BOTH THE BUYER AND SELLER ARE AT RISK..

THE BUYER IS AT RISK WITH TT AND BANK TRANSFER, BECAUSE THEIR IS NO RECOURSE ONCE A CASH PAYMENT IS SENT, I MYSELF HAVE BEEN SWINDLED BY MANY CHINESE SUPPLIERS. AFTER I PAY, NO GOODS SHIPPED.. THIS IS THE MAIN PROBLEM THAT CHINESE SUPPLIER FACE WITH INTERNATIONAL TRADE WITH U.S. MARKETS.

HOWEVER I DO UNDERSTAND THEIR IS FRAUDLENT BUYERS ALSO.

I WILL SAY I HAVE HAD GREAT SUCCESS WITH A COMPANY CALLED DHGATE, AS THEY OFFER ESCROW SERVICE TO PROTECT THE BUYER.  GOODS ARE SHIPPED, DHGATE COLLECTS INSTANT CREDIT CARD PAYMENT FROM BUYER, THEN SELLER IS PAID WHEN GOODS ARRIVED AND CONFIRMED.   THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST WAY AND ONLY WAY TO DO BUSINESS.. ALIBABA SELLERS IF YOUR SERIOUS ABOUT GETTING MORE BUSINESS FROM U.S. MARKET, I CAN TELL YOU AS A U.S BUYER YOU NEED TO USE A LEGITIMATE ESCROW SERVICE TO HANDLE THE PAYMENT.  EBAY USES WWW.ESCROW.COM
