Only 15% Deposit, Will it be Dangerous ?
Post 1 of 9
We have sing a contract with one customer ,and they pay only at around 15% deposit ,but in fact ,at the contract ,they should pay 30% deposit . And recently ,there is a money decrease 55% at their country according to USD...so what should we do ? Is it dangerous that we finish their order ? they delay the color box design to us ,and it lead our cautions ... Who can analysis this suitation ?

Of course 30% deposit is best for you the supplier and is fact the standard so you could require that. It seems that you have an agreement with the customer to that effect so you may need to raise that with them.

I am not a manufacturer but if I were I would insist upon 30% from all but perhaps a very few trusted long term customers. Your risk is in producing product that you may not be able to sell if the customer does not pay for it so you need to mitigate this risk by ensuring that you have a healthy deposit.

Deposits acheive two key things:

a. they ensure a comittment from the customer;

b. they protect you in case the customer changes their mind

I would push for the 30% as it seems that this is what was agreed to.

U should stick to ask them to pay u 30%deposit before producing in the gross as per contract request.Otherwise ,I think they will not admit they only pay 15% after u send them the goods.I think they will only pay u 70% after the goods send to them.

If they only could pay 15%,u should talk with them that u  will amend the contract to 15% deposit,85% balance before shipment,and sign the contract with both sides' signature and chop .

Or u stick to ask them to pay 30% deposit as per contract request before producing.

don't be too nice to your clients or it will lead  to risks. you both party have clause in the contract say 30% deposit, and the importer just paid you 15%, why don't you ask for the rest? you have the right to fight for all of the 30%...Don;t worry about their decrease on the currency if your deal is based on US dollar, you  get dollar not their currency.

I really want to say, don't dote on clients like that..good luck

In my opinion, if this is a first time customer, that situation is dangerous because there is no guarantee that they will pay the whole amount once the item is delivered.

It is not your problem that there is a currency fluctuation in their country. Your only concern is that they pay for the items they buy from you and thats the end of the deal.

With that, do not send your items. If they paid 15% of the goods which you have already confirmed through your bank then they should only get 15% of the items ordered.

You must demand that they pay for everything first before you send the remainder.
