I assume that you are selling foreign brand name products.

How can you be sure that the products you are selling are genuine products and not fakes? Which country do you buy the products from?

First off if they are using escrow.com theres not going to be any kind of payment made if the goods do not pass customs in the country they are being imported to.  Second, given that there is an inspection period, its easy to verify that the products are original thru the manufacturer.

Escrow.com is great for ensuring that your product arrives as promised but it is no guarantee that what you are receiving is what you are paying for.

Elizabeth so you are buying direct from phone manufacturers in the US and reselling their phones? Sorry if my suspicions are misplaced but if you could give more information it might help potential buyers to see that you are 100% legit.

I certainly do not think that you are a scammer. A scammer would not use escrow.com and that is where escrow.com can be a great tool. It definitely protects against scammers no doubt. My only concerns with escrow.com are that it does not protect against counterfeits and many legitimate businesses choose not to use it for various reasons.

So it a great thing for reseller to offer as it does create buyer confidence.

I guess that my concern is that you may be unknowingly selling fake brand name phones. I have seen this before here on alibaba where people make fantastic offers thinking that they have found a way through the jungle only to find out later that they are selling counterfeit or refurbished phones and not the brand new originals that their customers thought they were buying.

As we know legitimate brand name phones are only available from the brand name company and their distribution networks which includes resellers who buy from that legitimate network. All of this means that brand name products cannot be cheaper than a certain price level as each step of the network pretty much ensures a price at a certain level.

So for someone to be selling legitimate brand name phones they would need to be a part of this network.

To my knowledge individuals have no access to this network as they do not qualify as being 'big enough' to warrant attention. Small businesses can access the network at the last stage by buying in certain quantities from the final step in the chain in your country.

You mention that you work directly with manufacturers of these phones which goes against what I know about the supply chain for these products. So I will remain suspicious unless you want to provide some further information - without of course giving away any of your secrets. But as I am not a buyer I guess that my concerns here are really not that important when it comes down to it.

Simon, now you missed what I said.

If the products can't clear customs becuse their fakes they will never make it to the buyer.

Besides I'am sure that anyone who is selling cell phones knows how to check an IEMI number against the manufacturers list.  Which can only be accessed directly through the real manufacturer.

If they are selling sell phones and they dont know what an IEMI# is then there in the wrong business.
